Armalite, Rock River or DPMS help me choose?

Re: Armalite, Rock River or DPMS help me choose?

+1 on Armalite. I can't speak for the other brands in an AR-10 configuration, but I can for the Armalite. Probably one of the best out of the box shooters you can get for the price you're looking for. Plus, when you save up some cash later down the road, they are compatible with Noveske uppers or you can send it into GA Precision to make it even better. But out of the box, I think you'll be pleased.

DPMS has a substandard bolt in that the firing pin hole is the size of the ninth hole at Pebble Beach. Save the coin and get a smith to be done built ya one. Just an opnion, but its an informed one.

you can brag about your Hesse all you want, but i will always go for quality AND dependability. </div></div>

So the .308 ARs that don't cost well over 3k are hesse's now?

Define how that overpriced rifle you just posted is "the best". <span style="color: #FF0000">I could build a rifle using the best components for 1-1.5k less </span> <span style="color: #3333FF">(go for it !)</span> or even get a GAP AR10 for less. </div></div>

i guess you will just have to buy one and find out for yourself, if i told you anything about it, you and others would doubt it as you might think (or FEEEEL) that i am bragging, i am NOT and will NOT !! so i will let the rifle speak for it self.., is that fair for you ??

You can brag on it all you want if it is true.

How much "better" is it than say three of it's cheaper competitors; GAP AR10, OBR, Armalite SuperSASS?

Re: Armalite, Rock River or DPMS help me choose?

I know this may not be the norm but have you guys seen this, the rra is $1500 or less and he provides proof of accuracy and says it feeds reliably. just because it doesn't have a bunch of tacticool rails and shit on it doesn't mean it wont get the job done just fine. I will be testing mine today and will let you know if i have similar results.

The DPMS's that I've owned were accurate, but not dependable at all.

The Rock River's have been outstanding in every catagory. Reliability has been 100%. Here's a couple of groups that I shot with my LAR-8 Varmint 26" version:

This is 10 shots and includes the first clean/cold bore shot:

My 16" LAR-8 is almost as accurate.

They are great rifles!</div></div>

Correct if I am wrong but I think all 18 holes at Pebble are the same size

What does the gas piston system do for long range shooting that DI can't do? I understand that it has some merits in short barrels with suppressors, but I don't think that is the point of this thread.

Re: Armalite, Rock River or DPMS help me choose?

not to get off track on this battle but the rra i just picked up is shooting 1/2moa at 100yds already with 44gr varget and nosler 155 competitions. I only have 100rds through it but so far it feeds great and is accurate plus its under $1500 so i would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a accurate budget semi 308. it doesn't have all the tacticool rails or a high tech stock, but i care more about accuracy and reliability since i am not le/military.

Re: Armalite, Rock River or DPMS help me choose?

Check out USA tactical in statesville nc. They don't have a 308 but they one hell of a 6.5 that groups sub moa. They make all components in house and have some of the tightest tolerances and quality control I've seen. Usatf. Us

Re: Armalite, Rock River or DPMS help me choose?

I bought my first AR two weeks ago. It is a RRA LAR-8 Elite Operator. I have only fired it about fifty times, but I am impressed with it's accuracy. I shot a 9/16" five shot group at 100 yd. Not bad for an old man who can't see good. I went to the gun shop yesterday and ordered a RRA AR-15 Elite Operator 2.
