Thats how its supposed to be. The flash hider is primarily used with the AN/PVS-10 night vision scope. You would not require it with the metallic sights.

Heath, do you still have your OK Webber front base? Maybe you can show Lockedandloaded a comparison pic of the lock ring and the two different sight base heights. I'm presently indisposed. I can do a pic of the old style a little later or maybe I can get someone else to post a pic of it.

All my OK webber parts have been sold approx 25 days ago.

There is and easy way to figure this, the original FH was engineered for the Remington 40X front sight base that is .170 high, so the lock ring has a shallow clearance notch.
The OK Webber front base being taller, .375 if memory serves, has the larger diameter lock ring to account for the deeper clearance slot.

The actual flash/blast device has not changed just the lock ring.

Triggers have been discussed already here and elsewhere, my apologies if what I'm going to ask speciffically has been covered already.

I wanted to know if a whole new sear adj. block made to shape with a m24 spring pad as a single piece is needed to replicate an M24 trigger, or can a spring-pad chunk of metal be brazed onto existing sear? A replacement piece would need to be exact dim. to interface with safety cam so to me it be easier to leave existing one and affix an extension. I probably should just let Mike Lau handle it I guess.

That is a good question on the trigger, I think I remember the one that Lau did for me had a whole new piece, might be a good project if you know what you are doing.

Getting a genuine M24 is next on the things to do list for this rifle aside from optics and rings. The only legit M24 trigger i have seen was on ebay for several hundred dollars. Mike Lau is the person i will have to give a call sometime. But i gotta admit though, my 40X trigger is pretty nice.

I want to mention this about the M24 trigger. It is not, by most peoples standards, a "match grade" or Benchrest quality unit. The "breaking a glass rod" wont really describe its feel. It is only adjustable down to about 3.5 pounds pull weight. It has an adjustment screw on the trigger pad, but that is designed to INCREASE the pull weight (up to approx 8# pull). It is not designed to LOWER the weight. Its made so if the screw should become lost or loosen out, the rifle will still function at the minimum pull weight. Many Army shooters simply remove the adjustment screw. Just simpler that way.

Good news! I got it! I got my M24! It will be here this wednesday, sold by CitizenArrest, I will post pics. Now I gotta buy some cheap ADL stock and remove the buttpad to get it to the M24 stock, then buy the rings and the scope.

I rather like design of the rear base of the OK webber's. I wanted the redfield parts since that was all the original equipment as far as iron sights go. I might buy and install the Badger Ordnanace M24 drop in DBM system at a later point in time.

It took a while....but here it is my M24. Its a work of art, Im glad that I finally have it. Its my dream rifle. I will buy the scope and then the rings for it later on, put an OK rear base, buy a cheekpad and buy a cheap adl stock that have the remington logo and the proper buttpad size. If someone has one already, I will happpily give them the HS PRECISION one.

Thanks man, when I get the rest of the things, I will post more pics of it. I just love how it looks, how simply and how wonderful it is. It isnt that heavy, I can carry it with two fingers around the stock.

Im glad for Citizenarrest, and Im glad that he sold it to me and was very pacient with me, Im very happy with the rifle....and even more happy when I get the rest of the things and shoot this beauty.

Aside from the thick H-S Precision logo butt pad, it looks like you have the right stock. Why would you want to buy some cheap ADL stock and replace it?

No, no. You misunderstood. The ADL old synthetic stock, comes with the old buttpad from Remington. The one that has the remington logo and the correct size of the buttpad that I want. Its why I want to buy one and replace my buttpad....and like I said, if anyone has the correct buttpad on one of those stocks, I will happily trade the hsprecion buttpad.

That idea is not going to work on the butt pad swap, those 1 inch thich HS butt pads are epoxied on that metal and the metal is not flat either, I tried that earlier this year as a buddy found one in his parts bin.

Sorry, I did misunderstand you. Red6actual is right though, that whole butt plate assembly is different, not just the pad itself. Save yourself some heartache and don't tear up the butt pad you have, you'll hate yourself in the morning for doing so. This is and "all or nothing" scenario with respect to the butt plate assembly.

So even if i had a remington buttpad, is not possible to assemble it uh. Well, how about paying a professional to cut the buttpad to the military lenght and epoxied it to it. I dont have the tools or the experience.

as i posted earlier on in this thread, any competent gunsmith can reproduce the muzzle brake, just gonna be a matter of how much he will charge. I barrowed one from work and luckily my uncle thats a machinist made me onefrom stainless steel, GAP coated it

Yes, i know it doesnt has the correct base. But i am worrying that if i do buy the correct one, the screws will mismatch. Or,are they an standard size and will fit normally?

Remington 700 actions come with 6-48 screw size. The leupold base used on the M24 uses 8-40 screw size so you would have to have the screw holes in the action for the base opened to 8-40 if there not already in that configuration.

Im sure any comptent gunsmith could make one but you have to have one to copy from otherwise might just be wasting time.
Ill definitly be down for at least one maybe more if someone would make a run of them.

You have heard wrong. The M24 issued with the Leupold M3A Ultra scope. Later when the Ultra line ran out they replaced with Leupold Mk4 M3s as needed and later the M24 was issued with the Leupold M3 LR/T. Scopes. No other scopes have ever been issued with the weapon system. The only significant difference in the scopes is that the LR/T scopes dials turn in the opposite direction from the Ultra and Mk4 dials. That new scope that M24SWS referred to is going on the M2010 and has never been on the M24.

The only time I've ever seen a scope other than then 3 M3s mentioned above was on M24s that belonged to the Army Marksmanship Unit and they do some testing and research.
