Paint loks alittle glossy ( could just be your flash) but other than that...F'n cool!

How much does it wiegh?

Looks like a great project gun, Kudos to Indiana to open up the laws alittle to allow you to use a rifle in this configuration. This should be a big plus for the recoil sensitive, and the disabled. (Maybe not in .458 but in a smaller pistol caliber)

Since the Stevens doesn't have the accu trigger, have you considered a Timney or other aftermarket trigger?

The price of a Stevens makes it a really nice platform for an "econo build"

Let us know how it runs.

Neat!!!

Re: As promised My Bolt Action .458 Socom Build

I stoned the trigger bringing it from a gritty 6 pounds to a pretty consistant 4.5 pounds, so i dont really see the need to spend 75 bucks for the timney trigger... i have right around 600 invested after selling some take off parts and not including the scope.... the paint is slightly glossy as i was in a hurry to get it painted because tomorrow is the last open day i will have to shoot before deer season... i think i didnt pay close enough attention to the volume of the hardner i was using.. its not a perfect build but its mine, i did it, and its pretty sweet.... i believe it weighs around 8 pounds including scope.

Re: As promised My Bolt Action .458 Socom Build

Indiana uses case lengths and bullet diameters to define a pistol cartridge. Kinda stupid. I just trimmed .025 off the case of my 450 bushmaster and now it falls into the pistol cartridge category as well.

I like your 458 build, been considering something like that...

Should be a great whitetail round. I love using my 375 and 50 calibers for deer. Puts em down on the spot, no tracking required. What bullet weight are you using?

Re: As promised My Bolt Action .458 Socom Build

Nice stick. I picked up a stevens sa for a winter 308 build. Great platform and are excellent shooters with an upgraded trigger and barrel. Of course, everyone knows the factory stock is trash.
sure that's not a woodchuck stock? I was thinking the mule deer had a monte carlo style cheekpiece. Either way, still a nice build.
