Suppressors ATF to reassign examiners

Re: ATF to reassign examiners

i called the other day. sent in my form 4 on april 6 and it didn't go pending until july 5. i've got Santamaria. this will be my first can, and this wait is about to drive me nuts.

Re: ATF to reassign examiners

I received a Form 4 back from Lamberger yesterday that was submitted 9 May. 147 days door to door. There was a 30 day jump from the average of 110 days that I was seeing just last month.

Re: ATF to reassign examiners

What exactly do they have to do? does anyone know the actual work done by the examiners? ie background check, read the paperwork check for errors etc? Anyone know what the process is? I always wondered what the heck took so long to do these? I understand volume wise but Assume for a moment there was 1 application per examiner left to do.... How long would it take for that 1 application to be done?

Has been a question of mine as well... I cant imagine anything taking this long without alot of downtime between handling the paperwork and then sending out.

As I understand the process (which could be correct or not),
1 the paperwork goes to Atlanta where the ATF cashes checks. (7-21 days here [mail/sorting/backlog/waiting for checks to clear]).
2 the paperwork gets put in a pile until ATF has a freight load of mail (2-4 weeks)
3 Mail is then trucked to Martinsburg (the NFA branch) [2 days]
4 Mail hits a sorting room at martinsburg and is sorted [3-14days]
5 Mail hits the examiners mailbox where it might sit for 2-4 weeks
6 fingerprint cards and passport photos get sent to the FBI? [1 week to get there and get sorted,3-4 weeks to process the background check]
7 fingerprint cards come back to martinsburg (1 week mail and sorting)
8 examiner approves paperwork and returns mail to SOT (14 days).

That's 22 weeks divide by 4 and you're at 5.5 months. It's actually taking ~6 months for individual form 4's so I've obviously been optimistic. </div></div>

this sounds about the same thing I heard from a family member that works is ATF but different division

That's somewhat reassuring. I'll let you know.

They frown on sending them any "personal items"....
She is pretty slow and methodical, be prepared to wait.
