I got my Athlon Argos BTR 10-40 x 56 mounted on my Tikka T1X today. Can't wait to get to the range.

That’s a nice affordable combination ??

Can’t wait to see what you think about the combo. Hope everything works out as I have been thinking about that combination for a while.

I got to the range today. The Athlon tracked great. I did a box test, it came back to zero, ran it up to 150yds 12 MOA back to zero. Clear at all powers. Only con is the cross hair are very thin as stated by Athlon. It is their benchrest scope. I shot paper at 50 yds. and steel at 150yds. At 50 yds a bullet hole likes a dime and match sticks like 2x4 on 40X.

Lost a lot of points on yesterday's Mini (=22LR) PRS match trusting Athlon's tracking (Athlon HELOS BTR 6-24). When shooting to 150 and 200m using reticle I had reliable hits. When using turret elevation I was not even close. Did some tracking test and it is way, and I mean waaay off. It also did not return to zero when coming back from elevation. My fault for not checking this immediately, but Athlon lost a lot of my trust.

Send it back. Yours an exception to the rule.
I have two of their Talos BTR 4-14x44 scopes which are their bottom of the line FFPs, and they track just fine on my 22LR from 50 to 250 and back numerous times. Your Helos should do it too, and they'll make it right if you give them the chance.

Honestly ,dont believe any scope till tested , but sub 1000$ scopes are extra triple check territory , 1000$ retail price scope cost at best 250$ from the factory expecting miracles at such cost is wishful thinking especialy considering that we are testing and finding problems on 3k$ scopes.

Mark,

How did the Tikka shoot?

Glad to hear the scope did well and met your expectations ?. Thinking on putting this scope on my next 22 rifle.

Thanks,

Arnold

My Tikka shoots great, see post on this site under Tikka T1x page 11 and 13. It will 0.5 moa out to 150 yds ( my max range at my local range) with The current lot of Wolf Match Extra.

Looks like you get to test their warranty. I will say though whatever turrets are in the Midas tac and ares Etr are the newest design and are working exceptionally well for me. I wonder if the Helos are the same. Either way, this is a bummer, I want Athlon to do well to show you can deliver a great product without the 2-3k price tag. Let us know what happens

I have an Athlon Helos BTR 6-24×50 APLR2 FFP IR MOA. The turrets worked well until a part broke in the scope. Athlon took care of the issue under warranty and I've not had any problem since.

Actually I did the tall target test with my Athlon HELOS yesterday. A friend with his HELOS joined the test and we did it in parallel. Funny thing, both scopes had perfec tracking in windage, both returned to zero and both completely failed on elevation. They had approx 10-12% tracking error in elevation. BOTH !!
One solution is to compensate elevation values by 0,9 other to return the item. Since another scope experienced identical flaws I do not trust another scope will be much better.
