Athlon chronos?

I would say it depends on the quality of your 6.5 CM build and your target distance. There are a gun number of Athlon fans in this group, but it is not a premium scope. It is a good value for the money. If you are using a factory Savage rifle, then sounds like a good fit. If you are shooting under 1,000 yards, it is a good starter. You can always upgrade glass, and there is a resale market for Athlon. If you have a Bartlein match barrel and a high-end gas gun like LaRue, LMT, JP or Knights; or a Defiance action McMillan stock or Cadex chassis, then I would say you will want to upgrade the scope.

I've got three, I think they're a nice scope, they're certainly not an top end nightforce, khales, etc... that being said mine have been dialed up and down in matches for a few years. Right now I'd get the Burris XTRIII over the Cronus, price is better and the glass is nice. You can also find them cheaper than the Cronus right now. I bought one the 3.3-18 XTR III for a hunting/ range rifle and I'm ordering the 5.5-30 XTRIII for the 6.5 PRC I just put together.

I hate to admit that I'm a bit of an athlon fan boy, mostly due to their reticles. That said, I didn't like the Cronus and sold it pretty quickly. The Burris xtr III suggestion is a good one.

It's a high quality, Japanese manufactured scope.
Are there better scopes? Yes.
You have to go WAY up the pay chart to get any significant benefit.
A four thousand dollar scope won't track any better, but the glass will be nicer.
A four thousand dollar scope won't have more tactile adjustments, if you're into that.
I have one, I prefer my Sightron SV, but the Chronus is a damn nice scope.

I have been using a Cronus BTR for a couple years and have been very happy with it. Glass is very good for the price, reticles are great, turrets are good but better on the BTR 2.

Throw levers are model specific as the BTR 2 has a wider "nub" on the adjustment ring.

Excellent scope and a great value, I seriously doubt you will be disappointed.
