Changing from picatinny clamp to Area 419 Arca clamp. Are the two bolts holding the factory picatinny clamp on atlas installed with thread lock? I can't seem to break them loose with hex wrench using what I would consider to be sufficient torque ( the hex wrench is twisting ). Anyone perform this task, if so did you have to use heat break them loose?

For this sort of work, heat treatment is necessary. Take an appropriately sized hex key and heat it on fire until it gets extremely hot. Use precautions to hold it. Try to select an old hex key because sometimes the key is damaged when subjected to fire. This happens when you use a low-quality hex key. Try to buy a hex key from Albany County Fasteners because they don’t compromise on the quality of the product they sell. Insert into the bolt for 15-20 seconds, it will come out.
Hex keys are all of the same type, they come usually in sets which consist of different sizes. Every size of a hex key is used for appropriate bolt size.

WTF?

We use Blue Loktite 243. A torch or soldering iron will do the job, soldering iron takes longer, we use a mini butane torch. The trick is to heat the fastener head up LONGER than you think you should! Use a good quality hex wrench with sharp corners and it'll break free.

Wish I would’ve seen this post two weeks ago. I bought the 419 barricade stop adapter for my Atlas and when I tried removing the ARMS clamp from the Atlas, I got one screw out but the other one stripped. I said F it and ordered the Picatinny rail for the 419 adapter. Now I use it that way. I found it’s more convenient because I can strip the bipod quickly off the rifle mid-stage if I need it to transition into a different position. I had to do this a couple of times at Smith Ranch last weekend.
