Has anyone had an atlas bipod fall apart by either manufacture defect or personal abuse.

If so please post your problems.

    Re: Atlas bipod durability

I've got three and never had any problems.

I think there was an issue with legs folding up on the earlier (non V8) models when used with heavier rifles, but solved long since with the leg ratchets as far as I know.

Seems like a bit of an odd way to phrase your post....have you had/heard of problems or are you just doing your homework before buying?

    Re: Atlas bipod durability

I guess I load my Atlas V8 bipods pretty hard. I ended up warping the notches on the plate that locks in the bipod legs causing a leg to collapse sometimes, my experience was one in a million. And apparently I have a thing for breaking stuff when it comes into my hands. Kasey took care of me and fixed my bipod. Accushot definitely stands behind their product and have nothing but top notch customer service. I've been quite impressed and would recommend you purchase any of their products. They sure go out of their way to help you out if there are any issues with their products.

    Photos?

I would just like to see the method of failure.

If you do a search here or on the Internet in general you'll find almost nothing regarding problems with quality/workmanship/reliability of the Atlas. With any weakness in a product revealed like "blood in the water" (ask Kimber, Leupold, etc.) I believe lack of complaint is quite a testimony. Occasionally threads are started about speed of leg deployment, price point, lack of availability, etc. but I think they are more to increase Casey's blood pressure than anything else. I'm sure you can break one if you try hard enough............um, well maybe?

my attachment screws got rusted in the field.

I oiled them, but out in the field, I don't oil my stuff all the time. that was it though, it took a good beating for couple weeks

    Re: Atlas bipod durability

joemusso, I can answer that, we have seen design failure and end user use/abuse failures.

On the design side, whenever we hear/see failure due to the design or materials, we improve it. When we learned of Gits's experience (above), we improved the material used and strengthened the design on the part that failed. We have done this several times and absorbed the added costs.

On the abuse side....a guy running with the legs extended that falls and breaks a leg is one thing, a guy that attacks the bipod with channel locks is another. In both scenarios all we ask for is the truth so we learn what works and what doesn't. But as I suspect you know, some people refuse to accept responsibility so they create stories to "explain" how the damage occurred. And again using Gits as an example, we spoke at length and I truly appreciated him taking the time to share his experience with me so a better product could be built.

I will say we are very proud of our customer base and we are honestly interested in building the best we can so as to not fail our customers. As that is our desire and goal, our failure rate, while never acceptable, has not been an issue, production has.
