I am going to upgrade my harris bipod to an atlas on my Remington 700 sendero SFii 300 win mag. The rifle is used for hunting and long range target shooting. I was on the atlas website and there seem to be many options. The 5-H looked really good, but may be too big for hunting? Thoughts and recommendations are appreciated.

S-CAL is awesome and much smaller than the 5-H. Not sure how far I’d be willing to carry the S-CAL while hunting...
Here's a comparison of my Harris with the Atlas BT-65 CAL (no-clamp version). Both are equipped with aftermarket RRS ARCA/pic rail adapters. The Harris also has a Pod-Loc upgrade; the Atlas BT-65 comes standard with it.
The Harris becomes a much more solid platform with those two upgrades. Each has a use case for me. I would think a bipod larger than the BT-65 would be too big to keep attached to a hunting firearm; the SCAL is much bigger than the CAL.

I would go with the CAL. I have zero complaints with mine. I have never felt it didn’t offer enough stability. It’s rock solid. The SCAL is a large bipod targeted to a different crowd.
I have PSR and CAL models. Both are awesome products and I have never had any issues with either of them. Both are very steady and I have put both my PSRs through abuse and they have never failed me. I do prefer the CAL over the PSR because it does not pan but both are awesome products that you will not regret investing in.
The cal would definitely be nicer if your humping a rifle around.
The SCAL is quite wide even when folded.
My apologies, I overlooked the hunting part, Pan and Cant can be a benefit in hunting, so I'd go with an PSR model, this is a great choice for hunting and will work just fine for range work. The 5-H and SCAL are huge and really too big for most hunting scenarios. About size and strength, the Atlas bipod lines are built with minimum weight and maximum strength in mind to support any rifle one would carry. People ask all the time about having a 20 pound rifle and will the Atlas support it, The Atlas doesnt even recognize 20 pounds on it's back.... The Atlas PSR models are our top military contractual bipod around the world and get a mix of range/hunting time. Buy with confidence.
