I have had this happen multiple times now. I push the button to move the leg into position and it seems to click into position at say 90 degrees, however, if you press on it with any kind of force it rotates to the next notch. If I let it engage and then wiggle the leg a bit that seems to fix the issue.

What am I doing wrong as it doesn't instill confidence when it is holding up my AIAT.

Just another user here, for me it is hard to see that happening unless the leg release button is not fully returning home when you put the leg in position and release the button. If that is the case:

1) Does the spring tension on the leg release button feel the same on both sides?
2) Does it seem like dirt could have got into the mechanism to hang up the button?

Just fiddle with it in your living room and see if you can get it to happen, then try to notice what the circumstances of the occurrence are.

I hope this does not sound to patronizing: are you sure that someone did not sell you a counterfeit?

It was purchased from Brownell's so I doubt it is counterfeit but that was a good point to make!

Spring tension on the button seems the same from side to side. It is pretty much new and has never seen anything but a range with a concrete surface so I wouldn't think dirt would be the issue.

It looks as if the notch is just barely engaging the stainless piece with the cutouts for the different angles. If I jiggle the leg back and forth it seems to seat further and it at least stays put.
