Re: ATN Scopes?
I guess I'll be the one to go against the grain here.
I'm not saying that ATN hasn't earned their reputation as described in the numerous previous posts many have put up.
I'm just going to share my own personal experiences with a couple optics I've purchased from ATN.
First is the ATN Ultra Sight. It's reflex red dot sight that probably been their best offering over the years. It's no C-more or Trijicon but for the price the manual (not the digital) multi reticle work just fine. Only gripe was the wash out of the reticle on bright backgrounds like snow on a sunny day. However, this is typical I believe of many sights of this type. The lack of being able to co witness iron sights on my Ar15 was dissapointing. I've recommended this sight to many just starting out with optics of this type as opposed to cheap chinese red dots.
Second was this monstrosity of a scope I put on my Bushmaster Varmiter many years ago. I knew nothing about scopes at this time and my local gunsmith who was an ATN dealer convinced me that this was the way to go. I ended up with a 6-18x65 model.
This behemoth was super robust and with that big objective ..who needed night vision ? After mounting it to the full sized Bushy Varmiter with a bipod. My rifle weighed in at a svelt 14 plus pounds. Not exactly a carry coyote gun. However, from a fixed position the rifle/scope combo really put a whackin' on prairie dogs out to 500 yds rather easily with that .223
Eventually, I sold off that heavy varmit combo mostly because of the weight not the performance.
If it wasn't for all the internet reviews and forum bashing of ATN products, I might have not known any different and may have still had them mounted up today on something. I simply didn't have any bad experiences with my ATN products.
However, I'm glad I've moved on from ATN but I cannot really have anything majorly bad to say about them because I never experienced any failures or performance issues.
my 2 cents.
