F#$@! Saw heading and thought was something new apart from the Desert Tech. Yep slowly trying to take more and more. One funny thing is the firearms registry is so hopeless a lot of the time, I’m told, they don’t know what the hell you have. When they come around to check it’s to update their records. But yeah my rifles are all in colourful Manners stocks because I’m betting all those scary “Tactical chassis” rifles are in will be banned before long. I’d love an Accuracy International rifle one day but am very hesitant because of all our do gooders trying to ban everything....they should be dumped in the ocean all our pollys.

A lot of people I personally know gave me shit for being "so pissed off......it's JUST bump stocks" which was always followed up in their next sentence with " the Pres had to do something."

I don't really give a shit about bump stocks themselves........it was about the principle of just conceding due to pressure.

I somehow missed the initial posting of this back in 2017.

With all of the civil unrest here in the USA during spring and summer 2020......firearm sales SKYROCKETED. I had several people I know that were never serious about firearms until all the riots broke out......then all of a sudden they saw the need....however firearm and ammo stock is so low you can find much at all......let alone enough ammo one would need to properly train if you've never squeezed a trigger before in your life.

Here in the USA the powers that be "poke the bear" every once in a while just to see how pissed off it will get when it comes to weapon bans. Even most firearm owners are WAY TOO NAIVE when it comes to proposed bans. There was a proposal after the bump stock ban that would ban a list of specifics but ended with "anything else that would increase the rate of fire." Most people being too naive have no idea what kind of fire they are playing with if something with that wording passes. Does that mean light pull weight AR triggers.......one could argue yes because it takes less force to pull ......then once that box is opened.....ban precision bolt action triggers too? What about banning 60 degree actions, actions that are smoother and maybe just all .223/5.56 since the cartridge itself is shorter and there can be "fired faster."

When it comes to firearm laws the best approach is to staunchly oppose it as fast as possible with as many people as possible.


I'm not sure how much gets relayed down there from here as far as current events but I live outside a city where the spring/summer riots happened ...........it made those wanting to argue against semi autos and 30 round mags VERY quiet during those times

When facing off against Sun Tzu you better be focused on the terrain and entire situation you're walking into vs the mere sword (gun in this case) or the battle is literally over before it began and you're cut in half and never saw it coming.

Either play by their rules or try to change them (tough part is trying to figure out if it's worth your efforts). An AXMC is on my radar to obtain and I fear that even in the USA a ban on imports may happen before I can snag one.

Yes mate very different over here. But it just makes no sense, obviously it’s just all about control control control. Gun ownership in Australia is purely a pastime, hobby or for competition. So no responsible gun owner is going to break the law relating to guns and risk firearms being confiscated. A firearm cannot be used for self defence on your property here ever.....the owner himself would be the one in trouble....it’s a joke someone breaks into your house here and you beat the shit out of them....your the one most likely to get charged especially if it’s ended up outside your front door. One of my duties on the property on which I live is to control the ferals, but as anyone with 2 brain cells to rub together knows, one shot from the .223, and every rabbit within miles is back underground for the next hour, whereas the only suppressed .223 I've seen here (owned by a Parks and Wildlife officer) wasn't a great deal louder than a .22, and at the range I usually shoot them, 200-300m they would not be particularly disturbed.

The reason given is the preposterous claim that that if civilians were allowed them then crims would get hold of them and somehow havoc would ensue.

As you rightly point out, crims can get whatever they want and are NOT worried about prohibition of any kind, if they wanted supressors, they'd smuggle them in with the container loads of shady firearms bring in every year or just make them.

Last year I tried to get a number from NSW police and FAR on gun crimes where a supressor was used.

Nobody could tell me, funny that.

I did find the following study commissioned for the Victorian gov.

I know I'm stating the obvious, but with something over 90% of the population being non shooting urbanites and no legislative protection from arbitrary Draconian changes, all major and most minor political parties are more interested in pandering to the uninformed.

That's the key GK, I never believe anything wholeheartedly without either concrete proof that I can verify from more than one independent source or personal experience. Particularly if it's from the gummint.

I have found over the years though, that there's invariably an inverse relationship between the wildness of a given conspiracy theory and the amount of proof for it.

We, as shooters, will never regain what Little Johnny Howler and the LNP took from us.
Politicians will never, not ever, rescind a firearm ban they have enacted because it would be an admission they were wrong.

We have to stop wasting energy on what we can't change and concentrate on trying to stop any further erosion.
