I just received my Savage FP 10 in 308. The factory stock is real piece of junk. My primary use of this gun is for deer hunting and target shooting at the range. I was wondering if the Bell & Carson duramax stock would be a good replacement stock for a person on a tight budget. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: B&C Duramax Stock

Do you have the Accustock?

The Accustock is a much better factory stock.

If not the Duramaxx is a step-up.

The Duramaxx has a large barrel channel which helps, but if your factory stock is pillar bedded and you can make sure it is completely free floated and not touching the forend by sanding the barrel channel a little it should work ok too.

The Duramaxx is definitely stiffer. I've seen the Duramaxx for $89, and considering it comes with a Decelerator pad, it is an inexpensive option.

It's a step in the right direction and if you can only spare $100 for a stock then it's probably your best option. Although, I would save $100 more and go with the Medalist if your going to do more hunting than range shooting, if not get the A2, it's great for the range and should do the job just fine for hunting.

Re: B&C Duramax Stock

I put a Duramax stock on my 110 FP that I rebarreled to 22-250 to be my varmint gun. I'm very happy with it, and it is night and day above the factory stock.
