The original post has evolved into a thread on ammo so I thought I would start a thread on just the rifle itself.

Received mine yesterday and it has a slightly dark silver McMillan Edge stock with a 24 " Shilen Ratchet barrel and Flavio 60 degree sear. Absolutely beautiful to my eyes. No time yet to post a picture.

I have a question for other owners. I purchased Kelbly rings and they do not seem to fit. The receiver needs the rings to spread .0330" wider for them t o slide on. Has anyone else had this problem and is fo what have you done. I thuink if I were to file the knife edes of the clamps I would being a bad thing and the rings would not"grip" the receiver well. I will be calling Kelbly latter this morning.

Thoughts?

Suggestions?

I don't know these rings, but why can't you undo the clamps completely and do them back up once in position? Sorry if I'm making a daft comment? But once in place you could torque them correctly.

The Vudoo has the 11mm dovetail mounts milled into the action and will accommodate single screw rings that are 0.500" thick. If you want to use a thicker ring (double screw) you will have to purchase aftermarket dovetail bases with #8 screws and a hole spacing of 0.860"

I got some double screw rings for a 11mm dovetail mounts for my CZ 457 from Amazon. They were made for airguns and work fine. Cost about $10.00 and they gave me the proper hight for the cheak weld I was looking for.

The story changed many times over the course of waiting. I was given incorrect information by the contact persons by phone from part time in house, to out sourced and finally to in house painter. Initially the stock was supposed to be gray with blue accent. I was told at one time that the stock was painted and all they were waiting on was a Shilen barrel as they only received 5 at a time. I received an email saying they could not do two tone paint (wrong) so I changed it to medium gray. Then told as I had changed the paint color I had delayed the process. If not for Jill I would sill be in limbo. The medium gray ended up being a medium silver. Something else of interest, I was told I would have one of the first 5 guns, but when the gun came it is serial number 45. Not a good experience!!!!!!

I've got a V22-S ordered with a McMillian Edge stock but have not decided on the color yet. I'm not a "flames" guy, I like to look at 'em, but I don't want to look at it in between every shot either. ;) Ozark Shooter posted a picture of his V22-S with a black stock and red VGW logo on the butt which I liked but did not want "copy cat" him. I talked to my contact person and asked about a 2 tone job, graphite black with sniper gray accents on the forearm tip and stock butt but was told they can't do 2 tones due to paint properties. I was then told VGW may be hiring an experienced painter for in-house production sometime early 2021, so I've held off on making a decision on the stock color(s). My completion target date is 4/1/20 , so I've got some time but would like to get it all settled just for my own sanity if nothing else. LOL

This is my first trip down this road with "painted" stocks, etc., so any tips or advice from more experienced shooters/builders would be appreciated.

Does automotive paint with clear coat hold up well to riding a one pc rest, etc??

Has anyone seen the graphite black or sniper gray cerakote in person? And did it look good, sharp, eye catching, eye candy etc., or was it dull and "meh"????

Now, here is a thought, something to consider.
I am an experienced painter and have done multiple stocks, multiple ways.
Paint can/does chip, the best finish is going to be a color coat with a urethane clear, just like all the cars out there, if they’re going with a simple, one coat, gloss enamel, I’d opt out if you can, this is super easy and cheap to get done anyplace that paints cycle parts or a body shop.
one of the nicest, lightest, most resilient finishes I have done on two color gelcoat stocks is to use a straight catalyzed urethane that you can tint. With a few coats it allows you to barely see the gelcoat but after polishing, it is hard, durable, and really pops.
If I have a pic around I’ll post it.

Lastly, remember, if you intend to, somewhere down the road, shoot something like IR 50/50 with a weight class, primer, paint, etc. can build weight fast so you might want the best result with the least amount of layers.

Here is an Edge I did a while back that came, green/gray gelcoat, you can now barely see unless you zoom in.
Sorry about the photoshop overlay, only place the image could be found.
