Not so far. I am using from a batch that is a few years old though. I have not opened up the latest arrival. Are you seeing an issue or just wanting opinions on the brass?

It is likely something you are doing and not the brass.

What is this doughnut rings? I have once fired Nosler in .308. It is reloaded now and stored in the safe in 50 round ammo boxes. I have looked at it since and now some have blotches all over them. I assume it is from lube that I didn't get cleaned off all they way. It cleans up easy with 0000 steel wool.

I've got 200 pcs of rem. brass that I load with same equipment,same load and no issues with it. Savage 12 LRP, Redding dies, sie.140's, Viht. n150,CCI 200

Hornady brass seem to be much softer than other brass, that being said, try raising your neck sizing die up some.
I never lube when just neck sizing, don't know if that is your case or not.

A doughnut ring is where the brass flows forward upon firing and builds up at the shoulder-neck junction forming a ring inside the case neck that effects the neck tension on the bullet and destroys accuracy.

Usually, doughnuts form on brass that has been necked up and/or neck turned.
I don't think just being a little soft would cause what you're seeing. Maybe you should contact Nosler and see what they say.

you can clean the inside of your necks with a proper reamer (see Sinclair,etc.)or buy an hand adjustable reamer in a tool store_even a drill bit for brass,if you can find it of the needed size,can help you to eliminate the donuts from your brass_(never encountered on my.308 or 8x57js,but frequent on my .222Rem.)_more steeper the angle between shoulder and neck,as in 6PPC,more frequent the donut,therefore you can find the best advisors about it among the benchrest shooters and their forums_

Called Nosler, and they brushed me off by saying "it sounds like your load is warm". 37.9 grns of N150 is not a hot load. Think I'll try Lapua brass, a lot of folks using it.

Ordered an rcbs reamer for 6.5 it measures .261 dia. and doesn't cut the ring out. ??

Seems like on FL sized brass the id of the neck should be. 261 or. 262 and a 261 reamer would cut the doughnut. Don't use the expander ball. It pushes the doughnut to the outside of the neck and where the reamer can't cut it.

I have learned to say fast any kind of profanities for your same issue (my measuring fault,as ever)_that's the reason I've talked even about ADJUSTABLE hand reamers, and drill bits_ proper drill bits,engineered to drill brass,are the cheapest and ready available way_adjustable hand reamers cost much more,but are more forgiving about cutting diameter adjustements_try first to go in your hardware store with some brass w/donuts,and TRY here to find the proper drill bit BEFORE buiyn'or ordering the correct ad.h.reamer_ never surrender!

pushing the donut outside,by any mean,if you can manage to do that,even w.a xpander,witout crushing the entire case,was a traditional way for ol'school benchresters to "see in face the enemy",and remove it_

Tried your trick without the expander,It worked.I may have salvaged the brass well enough to load hunting rounds but I don't trust it for match ammo.Thanks again to everyone.
