I'm not here to bash CCI ammunition because they normally make a quality product. Just displeased with this particular experience. Have fun cycling these bad boys!

Happily on my way to the range and finally get to unload a couple rounds. Get my two 100 packs of ammo out and start to load my magazine, NOT. This is what I found after opening my ammunition.

Wal-mart has a no-return policy on ammunition so I contacted CCI directly. I politely provided pictures of the ammo as well as my receipt and included lot #'s of each ammo container expecting that they would take care of it. I received a vague & unapologetic reply stating that I had to pay for the shipping to return the ammo to them then they would send me some back. What happened to customer service?

Re: Bad CCI Ammo Experience w/ Pics

If you decide to keep them, i'd actually think that just wiping the excess off in a small rag would be sufficient enough. So if you do end up doing this i'd like to know the results and how it compares to 'regular' batches of ammo. Otherwise i'm sorry that CCI isn't being helpful. It's sad, but that seems to be the trend in a good portion of companies out there. It frustrates me to no end, but it makes the companies who go above and beyond to give fantastic customer service much more valuable in my eyes. And for me at least, i'm more prone to go with them than someone who choses to represent their company as if it weren't anything more than a pile of steaming poop. That's how I see it at least

/rant off.

Re: Bad CCI Ammo Experience w/ Pics

Wax build-up was quite heavy and no chance of wiping it off. I took them to a wire wheel. My semi-auto pistol refuses to cycle rounds with the slightest amount of more than usual wax on the bullet.

Re: Bad CCI Ammo Experience w/ Pics

Had some Agulia SE that had excessive wax. Numerous failures to extract in my Striker.
I ended up using a heating pad with a wax paper liner warming the rounds till the wax liquified then quickly rolled them in a old terry cloth towel. But,,,,,They were no where near that waxy!!!!

Re: Bad CCI Ammo Experience w/ Pics

Wow what a fricken mess! They should have shipped you two new bones no charge. For god sakes we are talking under $20. Thanks for posting this I will pay more attention when I am buying 22 ammo.

Re: Bad CCI Ammo Experience w/ Pics

Looks like all of those got the a wax dip at the very end of the production line and the wax was cooling off. Could take a heat gun and hit the bullets with it and see if that does anything.

Re: Bad CCI Ammo Experience w/ Pics

I have had CCI standard volicity that looked almost that bad. When I pulled it out of the plactic thing it sets in it pulled alot of the wax off. I pushed the rest off with my thimb nail. I shoot a bold gun and it seemed to shoot OK.

Re: Bad CCI Ammo Experience w/ Pics

I saw this thread this morning and wrote an email to CCI because I just bought a lot of cases of mini mags. I explained what happened to RyanMC and This is what CCI responded:

We request the customer send the product back for evaluation. That allows us to see the problem, see why and how we missed it in Lot Acceptance and report it to the Production folks so they can fix it. Further, it takes problem ammo from the customer and gets it back to us. In EVERY CASE the customer is given an amount of replacement product that exceeds his shipping charges.

Sounds like you have about a year's worth of product in the basement and if you have shot a million rounds without a problem we must make very good product. If you have an issue, call, email or send us a note, we're here to assist, but we'll ask you to ship it back to us for evaluation. BTW, we answer quite quickly, in this instance <20 min.

So they do stand behind their product. Maybe the rep forgot to mention to RyanMC that they will reimburse the shipping with product. Either way it is nice to know they stand behind their product.
