Maybe hornady uses a faster powder and doesn't provide enough pressure at the gas port? DI is pretty tolerent of different pressures though.

Maybe the bullet in one of hornady's offerings doesn't feed so they generalized that no hornady feeds.

Re: Bad New 338 lapua Semi Auto

I read on some other forum that a lot of people were having problems with the Hornady 338 brass. Sounds like Hornady had a sizing problem with the brass. That might be why it won't work with the Hornady.

I personally have not had any trouble with Factory Hornday brass/ammo in my TRG42 however, my podna with his savage 338 can not shoot any hornady Factory ammo in his 338LM unless he has a rubber hammer and ram rod handy. I handload for him now and don't have any trouble with any other brass . Once I F/L re size, trim and turn the necks of the hornady brass he no longer has trouble with it.. Im sure hornaday F&%Ked something up here.. but i really dont use anything hornaday anyways so i never investigated whats actually causing this. I did use the same factory Hornady ammo that was sticking in his gun in my trg with no issues........... That's just my opinion, I'm not bashing them.

As far as the rifle this post is about.... Damn it makes my mouth water... Someone said its chambered in 5dollar bills, but I have got my handloads down to about 1.20$ a round for 338LM...Using top components like Lapua brass, 300grn Secnars or Bergers, Retumbo and Federal 215m primers ..... You just can not beat Lapua brass.. Worth every penny...I wouldnt have it any other way owning a 338lm..:)
