ok. just bought a used 700P .308 26"BBL. came with a cheap scope. took it to the range today and seemed ok at 100yds. took it to 200yds and the 1st few shots were ok. then all hell broke loose. i was off ALOT the next 10-15 shots even when i was adjusting scope. my question is, is this scope toast? could it be the BBL? does a bad BBL act like this?

Re: Bad Scope?

Most likely your mounts are loose. Make sure everything is torqued down including your action screws. 99.9% of the time its one of these two things. Tip: Use your cheap scope for target practice.

Re: Bad Scope?

I have a remington 700 TI .260 that I changed scopes on 3X and it still shoots MOB Minute of Barn so dont discount the rifle it would shoot 2 and then all over the place

Re: Bad Scope?

I agree, check your bases and rings. I had similiar problems with a bolt gun; accurracy got worse and worse with a Leupy 3-9 VXII. It really sucks when you pull the trigger and the scope falls into your lap (doh!). In that case I had the holes retapped and the bases/rings remounted. Can't complain anymore, it's good to go.

leadsled.

they're made so the shooter doesn't have the recoil on the shoulder, however as a consequence all of the recoil forces are directed back through the stock..

Re: Bad Scope?

i just installed a new mount but the old one seemed tight. not extremely tight but a little past hand tight. could it still move if not torqued? now, i was shooting 150gr fmj. are these too much for a 1-12 twist? could that have been the problem? i put on my Falcon and will test tomarrow. will also try a differant grain.
