Baddest mag fed cartridge

Been wanting to build a bigger rifle for awhile. Primarily shoot 6bra, 223, 6.5x47. Have a 6.5prc for hunting but I think it's time for something bigger. So what is the baddest mag fed 30 or 338 cal rifle to have. Considering a 300norma improved but I think a 338 enabler would be pretty sweet but that might be bigger than I want to feed.

I might suggest keeping it simple and doing a .300NM based on what you currently shoot.
Unless you are actually into ELR and I mean REAL ELR, the .300NM is going to do everything you need and is easy to work with and not too expensive to run.

Racing paper for fun and profit is what you're doing. Nothing wrong with that but the very notion of "baddest" blah blah in a blah blah is simply fallacious. If short barrel life is what gets your dick hard then why not pony up to the man-bar and find yourself a .30-378 weatherby. That should be done with a barrel right about the time you've finished with it anyway.

If possible it would be nice if it would use a standard Long action so to keep action and stock choices open so that puts us back at 300nmai or 300rum

I would say cheytac is safe for 375
338 maybe look at 338’edge or my personal favorite 338-378 wby
If you only shoot factory I would build one that has readily available components

Based on what you currently have, I'm going to clarify my suggestion and offer an alternative.

1. If you want something that can accurately hit at much further ranges than your current guns can, and will do pretty much everything you are likely to come across needing, from long range target shooting to hunting big animals, just go with the standard .300NM and don't worry about all the fancy AI or modded stuff.

2. If you just really want something that makes you feel like you have a raging manhood, and want to have the biggest and baddest, then just go get yourself a Barrett M107A1 and enjoy swinging your manhood all over the range and setting it out on the coffee table for everyone to see.

3. If you are actually serious about real ELR stuff then you wouldn't even be considering mag fed systems due to the limitations.

Jumping straight from standard small bore stuff into exotic big cartridges is going to be a path of a lot of pain and money as you try to work to get it all correct.

You can go the .338LM way if you want bigger than .30 cal but don't feel you can handle the big manhood of the .50, however due to the OAL, it's difficult to load the correct projectiles, the correct way for serious long range shooting without either single feed or having a custom extra long action and magazine, that's pretty much the whole reason why the .300NM was created.

300 norma,338 norma or 338 lapua. All easy to source quality brass and bullets , good out to 2000yards up to 2500yards when you get dialed in

I think 20x138. FlaK 30/38, Solothurn, Lahti L39, etc... I'm pretty sure all the 25mm+ stuff is belt or clip (bofors) fed if not single shot.

I am sure Mexico, Mo has the terrain to allow you to enjoy ELR shooting BUT do you have access to a safe place to shoot 2,000 yards or more?
I own both the Wheeler Accuracy built 300NM IMP and 338LM. The longest distance I have access to is about 2200 yards and it takes just over four hours to get there. Otherwise, I can drive 3 hours and shoot 1250 yards. I didn't factor in "sleepy Joe" fuel prices when I built them so trips have to more productive.
The 338LM is easier to spot shots at longer ranges but, in my mind, the 300NMI is, at least in my mind, more versatile. Why? Because I feel foolish at the local range (600 yards) with my 338LM. Burning that much powder and pricey bullets (now over $1 ea) seems wasteful while I can ease my mind slightly that the 300NMI is a little more 'economical".

I have a mile private club an hour and half away also know a couple friends who can get 2700y at their family farms. Also GPG has a king of Kansas match every year that I think goes out to 2200-2300y. The rifle won't get shot alot but it'll get used enough to justify it. That's part of why I didn't build one until now was not being able to justify the cost for a rifle that won't be used.

I agree with this, only alteration that I would would suggest is a 1:7 twist barrel for the 285's. Redding makes the dies, simple fire forming.

Not really the “baddest” though… you can get a 338 Snipetac in a mag with 265 solids. 3450fps isn’t terrible hard to get with that combo

When a customer has to wait a year to get brass (or another component), that potential customer moves to another caliber or component. This results in a loss for the person or company who has a complete monopoly (patent, etc.) on the process.

You can make the best buggy whip in the world, doesn't mean you'll stay in business.

But I doubt any business who found a way to make the best brass which( which wasn’t a secret none of the other companies do it because it takes longer and is less
Profitable) and you had it patented why would you let others copy it.
Outside of that if you read their page they specialize is hard to find calibers not everyday factory…
Highly doubt that they choose to have a long lead time what company wouldn’t want to sell more or do more business if they could.

Aren’t around many elr shooters are you? Plenty of people that have been promised brass that are more than a year out with nothing. And the ones that do get it, are out of spec and all over the place in water capacity. Hardly the best brass.

The only patent they have is a design on the case and sidewalls that they call there ignition system. The geometric shape or design is very similar to it is already done by Bertram in their drawn brass . The process of Machining brass and forming shoulders and neck it's not a patent they are not the first to do it and you cannot patent a process it is proprietary knowledge because very few understand how it's done but it is not a new process

5"/54 and now 5"/62 count. There is even a specific cartridge. 127x835mmR
That is bigger than the 5"/38's round of 127x680mmR

Going smaller there is the 120mm smoothbore (I'm partial to the apfsds types). Since rifle wasn't specified til the first line of the post it counts on one part but not the other.

Bigger than that they go bagged powder and either way 155mm artillery I wouldn't consider it magazine fed.
