has anyone used the badger brakes and did you have to have a smith do the install, i would like to put one on my aac-sd but dont know of any local smiths i would trust to do it, most of them dont do any machine work.

Re: badger brake install

You need a gunsmith for this, for two reasons:
Your barrel has to be either be straight/no taper at the "min" spec for the part you choose - or you need to have part of your barrel milled, as well as threaded.

You need to bore out the center

Clamp on makes it sound like its a simple install, in this case it only means you don't have to time the treading and its easier to remove.

Re: badger brake install

I used their Thruster mode, which works really well. If your barrel is already threaded, make sure the thread pitch is the same as a Badger offering.

The bore of the muzzle brake may have to be opened.

You could index it with shims, but the best wya would be having the shoulder machined to index it properly.

Mor ethan likely, you'll need to find a gunsmith, for wither of their models.
