Hey Guys,

The Badger FTE is my top choice right now for my .308 but I would like to hear some reviews of people that are using it to see their experience. Do you like it so far? Any Dislikes?

Also, where is the best place to purchase this? I am in Iraq, but would need to purchase and send to my gunsmith back in GA so he can install before I get home.

Thanks in advance

-Chris

Re: Badger Ordance FTE Brake Questions

All I can say is my 308 kicks less with my Tubb Brake than with my Shark can on, and I shot a heavier rifle than mine with a FTE and there was more recoil, I love Martys stuff, but the Tubb Brake is 85 bucks from Brownells, and it also helps with accuracy, all of Team B uses them, as does Outback and his crew.

Re: Badger Ordance FTE Brake Questions

I had one on a .308, a bit heavy so I decided to swap it out to a Thruster. The Thruster, in my perception, works better on a non-magnum. Flip side, I have shot near identical .338 LM rifles back to back, mine with a FTE and a friends with a Thruster, my perception is that the FTE performs better on this level of magnum than a Thruster.

Re: Badger Ordance FTE Brake Questions

I am also considering the FTE when I get a rifle together. Plan on a suppressor down the road and figured the FTE would be the best choice for switching back and forth between suppressor and brake.

Re: Badger Ordance FTE Brake Questions

I have a FTE on my .308 and there is nothing I diskike about it.But if I had a choice between a suppressor and a brake I would definatly go with a suppressor over a brake.

Re: Badger Ordance FTE Brake Questions

agree with phreak and mike-my fte works well but its heavy/bulky for other than bipod use-really like my bastard brake and my thruster also is great for use other than off bipod as they balance very well!

Thanks Guys

I am going to look at some other items then

Re: Badger Ordance FTE Brake Questions

The FTE brake is a great choice for larger caliber like the 300 WM, which is what I have on mine. For a 308, it's a bit overkill, I think.

Re: Badger Ordance FTE Brake Questions

I'm looking at putting an fte on my rifle. The barrel is .93 inches at the muzzle. would the 5/8 thread brake require the barrel to be turned down too much?

Re: Badger Ordance FTE Brake Questions

my barrel is about .90 at the muzzle, and went with the 3/4 x 24 threads. figured the threads would be a little beefier. more meat around the bore, less stress....IMHO

Re: Badger Ordance FTE Brake Questions

My .260Rem kicks less with the FTE than with my STW Titanium can, but it's a heavy beast and overkill for a .260 or .308. Look for a smaller lighter break like the Thruster.

Re: Badger Ordance FTE Brake Questions

Ok, Thanks for the input. I liked the FTE due to the fact it does not need timing and I can remove it for cleaning. It does look a little bulky, so I was also considering the Surefire brake for the QD suppressor option but the brake is not removable. Any opinions?

Re: Badger Ordance FTE Brake Questions

I agree the FTE might be a bit of overkill on a .308, but I really like mine ALOT. It works well, and it seems to balance well on a 20" barrel, even when shooting offhand in Tac matches. The reduction in recoil for rapid follow on shots is amazing. The bulkiness has really grown on me, I think it looks very cool now. And I do like the ability to easily take it on and off with no accuracy issues. I've had mine off a couple of times and have seen no change in POI at all. LOVE IT!

Re: Badger Ordance FTE Brake Questions

FTE it is! Thanks... Now I have to find someone who can make a thread protector that covers the entire area that is milled down behind the threads

Re: Badger Ordance FTE Brake Questions

I had my smith do a thread protector and he recessed the rear of the protector and inserted a rubber gasket so that the protector would snug down on the gasket and not the barrel. When I thread my supressor on I flip the protector so the rubber snugs against the supressor. It works great and keeps everything tight.

Re: Badger Ordance FTE Brake Questions

Living where a can is a big no-no, the FTE will be on my .300WM project. This rifle is already a pig and the addition of a lil' more... Probably won't even notice it.

My wish list from Triad is getting kind of lengthy...
