I had Badger Ordnance rings recommended to me for my .308 LRB M25 and Nightforce scope. And I am pretty sure I am going with them on that gun. I am also working on a 22lr. CZ455, the tactical model with threaded barrel. Both the gun and the Vortex scope are right around $500 each. Are the Badger rings too much for this build? I don't mind spending the money but if there is something else recommended I would be open to hear it. Thanks a lot.

Im a fan of the TPS TRS scope rings. midway sells them for half of what they cost from TPS direct. They come in alloy steel or aluim. 30mm steel rings witch are amazing and great quality for around 80.00. I run them on 4 of my guns and just ordered another set. never had a problem with any of them.

I run badger rings on my hunting guns and tactical rifles, i just cant see spending 2-3 k on a rifle then 1-2K on a scope and be worried about an extra 100 vs 175 bucks for some rings. but that being said I have had good luck with Warne rings and TPS rings on a few budget friendlier builds as well, and the new vortex rings are genuine Seekins rings, which are advertised to not need lapped, which would be nice. ill be putting a set of those on my .223 here shortly.. If you can afford the Badger rings I would get them. they are very high quality IMHO and look the best as well. on a .22 I would probably save the 100 bucks and run, SWFA, TPS, Warne Versus the 175+for Badgers. you still keep the look but save some cash.

I run steel mark 4's on all of my rifles. I prefer them over the badgers. I also use them on my 455. It might be overkill, but I am confident with them. I also had Murphy precision make me a stainless 35 Moa base because I didn't want an aluminum one.

Are quality components overkill? Never.

Some will consider whether a component encourages a rifle to shoot better, some will question whether it encourages it to shoot less well. I am with the latter; primarily because my interests are about something being 'adequate' as opposed to 'best'.

For decades I was constrained to be satisfied with what I could afford, and it was not the best. More recently, I can afford better things, and have indulged myself. I can't see any real difference in performance, and since I started out in shooting, I have habitually treated my equipment in a manner befitting something I could not afford to replace. This has tended to evade events where ultimate physical limits are repeatedly challenged; so some aspects of the 'best' do not come so prominently into question.

There is a place for 'best', and a category of shooters for whom the 'best' makes a practical difference. Unfortunately (fortunately?) I have never risen to such a level of excellence.

If that ever actually occurs, I promise to revise my standards.

I am using TPS TSR on my cz 455 and several other rifles not all are rimfire several are centerfire with moderate recoil never a problem. I purchased mine from SWFA great people to deal with and usually a better price they will work very well for your application.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah Seekins look like they might be it. I've seen a lot of recommendations for them as well, on here and other forums. As proof from the "which rings..." thread just started. I'm also thinking I will be going with a SWFA 3-15.

If you like the brand and their products/designs by all means...buy them. But I don't think you will see a difference in quality compared to a brand like Seekins which are still higher end, just a little cheaper. I may piss some people off with this but my belief is that Badger is like the Knights Armament Co. of bolt guns. If I were to buy their stuff it would be for the reputation, name recognition, and little details that create their individuality; not because they're inherently "better" than other products in that price point.
