About your comment on 5:11 pants, I really hope the majority of men don't buy into the whole fad, tactical factor.. My skin cringes some but not as bad, when I see someone that always has to have a name brand tactical pair of clothing on.. It does look good, but it is expensive and serves no other purpose than to say "hey", I'm tacticool!! Just like the guys that wear Carhart only pants, with John Deer boots, and a medium size belt buckle with the front of your shirt tucked in only,, saying hey look at me, I like to pretend to be a country boy... I just look at them and think from first hand experience, "Buddy country folks can't afford that" or more then ever, we just don't care about identifying our selves like that.. Dressing to set yourself aside from the rest is saying hey, "I need some type of identity in my life to feel better." I thought mostly women did that?? But, I know I'm wrong though because I do everything on my own, outside of the norm and don't even try.. Oh well, whatever floats your boat!! That's why we just celebrated the 4th, because we're a free country.. But, for real guys, I try to catch myself when I see I maybe getting into a fad, because if that can slip into my life un noticed, than I just may set back and not notice when it's something larger or more important creeping into the world, that society just blindly excepts...
I profile the fuck out of people who dress like that. Tats on top of all that make me go to condition orange.

You spend an awful lot of time critiquing mens fashion. Seems a waste of energy. Ahhhh there is my answer for the "energy" drink!

Like Strykervet, I live in a military community. 5.11 and similar are pretty common. I got hooked on 'em after retirement so I could still carry my wallet and other gear in the cargo pockets. I like the spare mag pocket, also. As far as expense, I've tried knockoffs and they fit like crap and don't last as long.

Where were you guys stationed, or were ya'll in the Coast Guard or something??? I was 3rd ID for 4yrs. and no one wore tactical gear, except "Uncle Sam Issue!!"
I'm currently wearing baggy shorts and an oversized white t-shirt as I type this right now. So don't be hating! This is still a much better looking style than those faggot emo kids with their tight black woman's pants and studded belt and Hot Topic shirts and neck straps. I'm all for self expression, but there has to come a time in someone's life when they realize just how stupid they look to other people. Apparently emo kids don't have that form of realization in their minds.

It's not something I see too often, but I have seen the flat billed ball cap with tags thing a while back. In fact I really upset my nephew at a family get together last year, when I tore the tag off his (I thought he'd just forgotten to take it off!). The look on his face was a picture though!

What makes clothes (or anything else) tactical? Right now I'm sitting on my tactical sofa watching the news on my tactical Sony and hacking on a tactical keyboard. But while I was active the sofa, TV and keyboard were GI.
Yeah, but I hope you'll acknowledge that 3rd I.D. are the most uptight, pain in the ass, do shit the hard way, troops in the Big Army. I never really paid much attention to which I.D. was on the ground until the 3rd showed up, and then everything went full-retard overnight.

OP: I don't care for that style of dress either.
That being said, I don't begrudge him the right to choose to dress that way. I can't say that when I was 15-18 (pre- J.O.B.), I didn't make some rather large fashion errors myself.
I can only hope that eventually they will realize how their dress affects the way others perceive and relate to them, and will think carefully about it.

Maybe its just me, but I think folks need to be more concerned with their own shit and less concerned with stuff that only affects them because they allow it to.

EddieNFL!!! You don't know what makes something "tactical" man?? Come on!! It's the magazines Baby, the magazines!! Or, you just look at what the white family guy cops wear off duty, is a good judge.. Lol... Or, better yet! The guys on shooting shows on the outdoor channels! Well, big bogeybrown, I don't know what year you had to deal with 3ID, but if you were the General having to put up with the Joes of 4/64, you would understand the tight leash.. They disbanded Taskforce 4/64 after I left for some reason.. But, you have to give it to them, they did good in the Invasion of Bagdad and taken over Saddam's estate there.. I'm sure their wasn't any complaints from the people swimming and fishing at the Palace!!
Speaking of "tactical", instead of paying for some expensive pants, I was just going to get a pair of work type kaki's and sew Cordura on them, in important places.. I was going to sew football knee pads in the legs.. Just like we have to make our Gillie's in service.. I made my Gillie for hardly nothing, with a hood sewn in, and their is no telling what one like it would cost at the store, because it has so much man hours put into it.. It makes me proud of my gear, when I make something that proves useful.. But, if I have the money, sometimes I'll splurge.. But,, I try to save the money for reloading and shooting, "not my appearance while shooting."

I thought that example of tactical was spot on EddieNFL.. Law enforcement and psychology's are trained to profile people by clothing and such, well TravelingMan's profiling example would be spot on, for anyone asking to point out someone in tactical clothes, for an example of "tactical."
In the service, we are taught that a precision firearm, isn't a weapon,, it's a gun or rifle, because it's a surgical tool or instrument. A weapon isn't surgical or precise...

Where's the cargo pockets for all the mission essential stuff??? To be tactical, they would need something to set them apart from plain pants... and,,, do you "intend" for that hammer to cause bodily harm to anyone?? Theirs rules to this game now!!!!

Also, the blue pant's wouldn't be tactical unless you needed the blue color specifically for the mission requirement.. LOL!!
