I've been wanting a PCC for a while now and have been very close to getting one in the Lord's caliber I always knew this would be coming. Choices choices. I have land up in bear country and think this might be a near perfect truck gun for pesky critters.

I love me some 10mm. I can’t get too excited by this new offering, a short 7.62x39 will do far more damage while being cheaper to shoot. 10mm is impressive for what it can do from a semi auto pistol, in a rifle platform there are other choices.

A lot would depend on what you are trying to do and where it's used.
A 10mm semi auto rifle that is light and controllable shooting hot Underwood stuff would be excellent at close ranges with great controllability and you could carry tons of ammo for it.

At a dollar a pop for good stuff? I think that 7.62x39 idea looks pretty good at those kind of prices!

It’s a great idea, if you can afford to feed it. 10mm is anything but inexpensive. I’ve always wanted one, but it’s in FGMM territory as far as pricing goes, and that’s for a handgun round!

If you ever have to use something in a non enjoyment fashion, that $1 per round is going to be not even important.
The ammo you pay a lot of money for often has significantly better performance than the cheap stuff.

10mm has seen a resurgence in the last few years thanks to Sig and XD coming out with new pistols in the caliber and Glock releasing the G40 in addition to the 20/29 they’ve continued to support. For the longest time any 10mm ammo was 70 cents a round, good stuff was $1.50+. Now S&B is commonly available for 30 cents or less, Sig is 60 cents, and the exotics are still $1-$1.75. The cost of the S&B makes 10mm almost as cheap as .40 or .45 ACP, so my G40 and G20 are getting more exercise lately. The S&B isn’t quite as hot as I’d like, but for half the cost of the Sig ammo it only gives up 86 FPS and 81 ft/lb. The Winchester and CCI offerings give up about double what the S&B does.

I would like to see FN release a FNX 45 Tactical in 10mm, I would also like to see some other CCW options the size of a Shield 45. A PCC in 10mm is fine, but I wouldn’t buy one as I think there are better choices in the SBR world.

If you have a full sized pistol with a sturdy frame that can handle hot loads, try the really hot Underwood stuff in 10mm
It's on a whole different level than most of what you see in the stores.

Seeing as they already make .40s I imagine a 10mm isn't to far off. Same bolt thrust, same chamber pressure, there are book .40 loads that rival or equal some factory box 10mm ammo. I would assume you could ream a .40 chamber to 10mm and run on a large glock lower and be good, might have to work with buffer weights a bit. Of course that probably voids your warranty and if it blows up in your face it's on you, but that's half the fun right? I'd like to see a .357 sig or 9x25 dillon RDB setup from a .40 bolt and a reamed 9mm barrel. I just don't have the budget to build it yet lol

10mm is a fair bit different than .40
It's a longer cartridge, similar in length to the frame needed for a .45
The pressures of the high end stuff are higher than .40 and it will batter a light frame pretty hard.
That was one of the initial problems for a long time especially on 1911 type 10mms they just got battered too hard.

If you want to run a 10mm, do it right and build it for the 10mm from the start.

Now the .357 Sig is another story, that one was built as a drop in upgrade for the .40 S&W to use the same energy to drive a 9mm bullet faster for better penetration. On a lot of pistols you just have to get a different barrel & that's all that's needed.

I get the 10mm is awesome for a pistol round but for an SBR or AR pistol you can go with a full power round for bear defense. The hottest Underwood load has nothing on a full power rifle loads.
