I recently picked up a Remington 700 XCR Tactical in the 338 Lapua. I want to work up a load for long range elk hunting. I don't plan on shooting past 1000 yards until I get a little more familiar with this rifle. I wanted to know if any of you have had any experience with the barnes LRX. I emailed Barnes and they sent me some of their information. As of now I’m thinking either H1000, Retumbo or IMR 7828SSC. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Also looking for any load data for the same bullets. I'm shooting the 300 gr scenars with 92 gr of H1000 (very good results). Now wanting to work up a hunting load. The hogdon data for H1000 and the 265's seems a bit off, maybe due to increased pressures. Any advice is appreciated. thanks

Old thread but exact match for my question :) Has anyone tried this bullet for long range target shooting? How does it compare accuracy wise after 1000 meters for Lapua Scenar for example? Is this bullet hard for steel targets?

I have 12mm (0.5") HARDOX-500 steel targets and I might like to use only one load for both hunting and long range.
