Sorry if this is the wrong thread.

The question I want to ask is how clean is clean from copper ?
I have a Remington 700 SPS Tac .308 and today i cleaned it for cooper fouling. What I did was first clean out the carbon with Hoppes 9 cleaner. Then I took some shooters choice copper remover and followed the derections on the bottle. I took a nylon brush and put some remover on it and ran it through the barrel about Ten times back and forth (I did this two times). Then I ran about 6 patches dipped with copper remover through the barrels. When I was done with the wet patches there was no more blue color on the patches. then I ran about 4 with some denatured alcohol on them through the barrel. then about 5 with clean dry patches and one last one with a tab bit of gun oil. Now after I did all this I noticed that there was still copper streaks in the barrel is this normal ? thanks for any info input.

The rifle has a stock barrel on it.

Yes, its normal. Factory barrels are pretty rough, and they collect a lot of copper, especially when they're new. As they wear in, you'll see less and less build up, and the clean up will get easier. The hardest is getting the copper out of the corners, where the lands and grooves meet. Get as much out as you can and keep shooting.

A little tip that I've found to help me see it...after cleaning, I take a fresh, clean Q-Tip and hold it inside the bore, about an inch or so below the crown. The white Q-tip will reflect a lot of light inside the bore, and you'll be able to see the streaks of copper near the muzzle.
