Barrel contour fluting weight reduction

Im considering a .224 valkrie barrel next year finished at 26-28" but wanting to keep the weight down.

Question is how heavy of a contour with what fluting pattern could i go with and keep the finished barrel weight between 4.5 - 5 L bs?

Ive been thinking marksman or med. Palma? But not sure how much weight fluting would knock off.

I know rem varmint puts me in that weight range @ 26", just wondering if i can have a thicker contour and meet the weight goal with fluting.

Check out LRI. The have a new fluting pattern that would really drop weight. It’s in another thread on here.

Pac Nor has a barrel weight calculator, with or without fluting. LRI calc’s the weight reduction from fluting and majority of barrel makers list barrel weights.

I would call Chad. It’s definitely going to shed more weight than any other pattern I’ve seen.

Just use a lighter barrel. Cheaper and you avoid any of the problem that can come with fluting. I like light Palma which is like a Remington Varmint.
