I have a remage prefit barrel in 30 nosler from X caliber. Does anyone know of any place that could re contour it and re flute it? I asked X caliber and they will not do it. They also will not produce me another barrel in 30 nosler bc they do not have the reamers and they will not rent them again. I love the barrel it shoots lights out. I ordered a mcgowen in the contour I wanted, but I prefer the X caliber barrel.

Keep in mind changing stuff on that barrel may change the way it shoots. May be better off to order another prefit the way you want or you risk that one not shooting like it currently does

Even if you could find someone who would be willing to try, I probably wouldn't. Good chance of causing some irregularities in the bore dimensions, among other things.

Better to sell this one, and either find another place to make you a pre-fit, or buy a blank from X-caliber and have someone else chamber / fit it in the cartridge you want.

I get it. It’s a chance I’m willing to take. X caliber will not make another 30 nosler. I have a 30 nosler the contour I wanted from mcgowen. I want to make my X caliber barrel lighter and HOPE it will shoot the same.

That makes sense. I’m no machinist, never really thought of that

Never done it- but I wouldn't even consider turning down a fluted barrel to a different contour.
Multiple interrupted cuts over the length of a long skinny tube= likely disaster.

Plus, your flutes are consistent depth following the contour of your barrel. Change the contour, flutes will be inconsistent depth.

As mentioned, don't fuck with a barrel that shoots. You'd be changing the harmonics and it won't be the same.
