Gunsmithing Barrel Engraving

Does anyone have a way to recut the engraving on top of original? I know engravers can do it but was wondering if the technology existed to do it with a machine.

Using the same machine as used on the original it’d be really tough. Trying to match the font, size and spacing of an unknown original, that’d be pretty close to impossible.

You can have someone with laser engraver match it and do it. They can look at it on barrel before cutting.

I've done it. The biggest challenge becomes matching the existing font and getting the part indexed properly. Tricky, but it can be done.

Just know its not exactly cheap. Time and material. You just have to know up front that you start the clock and when your done, your done.

Below is a small example. Once coated a Nightforce and decided to do the knobs as well. Then just fixtured it up in the 4th and engraved the turrets again.
