This is just asking for people's opinions and preferences with their personal experiences. What barrel manufacturer, contours, how the rifling is cut (Button vs Cut), the numbers of lands and grooves, 5R and so forth? I really would like to know what everyone thinks on this particular subject. There are no wrong answers and I appreciate everyone that takes the time to respond to my questions! I'm a open minded person and I'm trying to learn as much as possible when it comes to Precision shooting rifles, custom or factory builds. There's nothing I like more than shooting a rifle that is capable of 1 hole groups at 100 yards and less than 1/2 moa at 500! Thank you for everyone's input.

Gunsmithing Barrel preferences and rifling for a 6.5mm

I like Bartlein and Hawk Hill barrels. 4-groove. Cut rifled. Only countours I've used thus far are the M24 and Marksman.
I have a m24 from bartlien on my 6.5 and wish I went with a medium Palma or proof for positional shooting
Don't over think the mechanics of a barrel.
The 4 or 5R will both shoot very well.

On the occasions that I've gotten to specify the barrel, it's been Bartlein. I honestly couldn't tell you the number of grooves or how they make it but I believe they're cut rifling. I trust that Bartlein knows how to make a rifle barrel, and wouldn't send me a barrel made one way if they believed that there was a better way.
I've shot 5R in 8 twists and head great results. I've found Bartlein barrels to be performers no matter the caliber or profile.
I have a 3 groove Pac Nor Super match for my 260AI. Went with Pac Nor because they seemed like one of the better companies that offered savage pre-fits. Chose the 3 groove mainly to try something a bit different. Been really happy with the performance. Fast barrel, cleans easy, shoots in the .3's and .4's at 100 yards and bangs steel out to 1200 easily.
If you want a cut rifled, my next build will use a Krieger barrel. I know alot of guys that have used Bartlien and Hawk Hill. Any of those 3 are top notch barrels.
