I'm in the process of ordering components for a rifle build I plan to start in the future. This is my first build and I have the stock and action picked out but I need help with the barrel weight. I plan on shooting this rifle at my local range and deer hunt with it occasionaly maybe shooting competition in the future.
I'm left handed so I have to buy a SPS Varmint and used that action. I'm going with a Bartlein Barrel.

What do you get when you go with a true Bull Barrel a M24 contour weighing 6.2 lbs versus the Remington Varmint Profile weighing 4.6 lbs.?

Is a heavier barrel more accurate?
Please advise me on the advantages and dis advantages of each.

Rifle so far:
Manners MCR-T3 Stock with the lightweight 90%
.308 Remington Action
CDI Bottom Metal
Cutting the rifle to 20"
Scoping with a 2.5-10X(Something) Lightweight tacticial scope.

Trying to build a tack driving stick that I can still hunt with.

Thanks for the Help.

Bill

Re: Barrel Weight Questions.....

What you get is more weight and that's about it. Short answer is no there won't be any measurable accuracy difference, but there are other factors that affect this both with the barrel and without the barrel.

Re: Barrel Weight Questions.....

For hunting I would rather have the lighter tube although short and fat is pretty sweet.
Have you looked at scopes? I'm spoiled I only look at scopes with side focus. If you are on a budget Super Sniper scopes are hard to beat.

Re: Barrel Weight Questions.....

Probably going with a Vortex 2.5-10X42. Has illumination, mil to mil adjustment and zero stops.... For now I need a 500 yards and in so this is my plan it could change but I'm in no rush.
