There is this "spot" that I'm going to presume is under the bluing if that's what Savage uses. That over time it continuously reappears.
Though if I vigorously rub it down with either a shop towel or cotton patch soaked in Shooter's Choice FP-10. The "spot" disappears.
One: Is there any way to visually tell if the metal under the bluing is contaminated?
Two: Would shipping the barrel off to be refinished stop this? If so, what are some good options?
I thought about trying Brownells Gun-Kote but first off, my oven isn't that big. And secondly I don't want to take a chance at warping the barrel.
