Gunsmithing Bartlein 400 moddb barrels (Gunsmiths)

How much more are smiths charging to chamber the 400 series steel barrels v/s standard steel barrels? Just trying to get an idea of what to expect.

I charge the same price. In time it may or may not prove out that there is increased reamer wear and require an up charge but I doubt it will come to that in my shop. With reamer cost of $3.00-$3.50 per chamber for a HSS reamer I don't see it affecting the bottom line.

I’m looking to have a 375 enabler if any one has suggestions. Dave didn’t have the reamer I ask.

The guy who wanted $200 more probably didn't have a reamer either. I cannot imagine the line of people wanting a 375 Enabler is very long.

If he's charging 200 over what he normally does and has a reamer then 1 of 2 things is going on...
He either hasn't done the research to know its very similar or doesn't know what he's doing
Or
He is trying to gouge for something new

Seems coincidental that his up charge is the exact same up charge Bartlein gets for the new steel. Are you sure you asked the right question?

Yes the smith stated it was harder on tooling... and the machining process took longer.

Weird. That also happens to be the cost for a brand new custom reamer.
