Commencing to start on new target rifle built and have herd of "T" Style rifling done by Bartlein Barrels. Read their web site about this and understand what it is but not quite sure of what the advantages would be having a barrel made with progressive rate type rifleing. How and why does it work? Anyone here using this type of rifing? What does this type of rifling do for you?

Have to make some decisions soon for this next build and this rifling thing is one of them left to decide on.

Re: Bartlein "T" Style Rifling

I just got off the phone with them about their "T" rifling before coming back and seeing your reply. Very nice folks there. They explained to me exactly what and why it is done and I'm going to have it done to the 260 I'm commencing to have built. Going to go with their #6 contour targetr barrel @ 26" long with rifling starting at 9-1/4 and progressing to 8-1/2.

Also checked out with them about fluting the barrel for weight reduction and increased surface area for cooling and they say it will have no effect on accuracy if they do it in house. So the barrel will be fluted as well.

Glad it worked out. Nothing like hearing the answer straight from the vendor. Were they still backed up? took me 7 months to get my 6.5 barrel.

Re: Bartlein "T" Style Rifling

Were trying to keep it around 6 months for most stuff. Some stuff has even gotten "lucky" and been done quicker.

Re: Bartlein "T" Style Rifling

I figured 3 to 4 months for the barrel, 3 to 4 months for McMillan to make me a stock, and probably a couple more weeks give or take for the gunsmith to do his thing.

The last rifle took about 7 months to get done.
