Bear pit "tard" rimfire challenge

My son Sam said he was too busy to break out the savage and show you guys what a real .22 group looks like at 50m. I believe the word he used to describe the OP was, "sad"

Man neither son nor Dad posted a target.......

This thing started as a means to have the Bear Pit have some connection to the topic of this site. Often there is a lot of key board commando or shit talking in the Pit.

All these shooting challenges do is verify that people coming to the Pit attempt marksmanship.

Not meant to be a gauge of skill, there are other forums on this site that dedicate to different shooting disciplines and post great challenges.

Just trying to stay true to Lowlights creation and engender the spirit of respect even if what flows from someone's cockholster is pure BS. I.E. "That dumbass is a real douche but despite that he shoots his CZ decently" or "Man that guy is a real hawk with all his opinions and advice....but he hasn't posted one shot up target, I don't think he even owns a firearm yet he is sure a keyboard tactical/strategic genius".

In all honesty I enjoyed the original version/challenge.
It seemed to be sliding into obscurity and thought we could enjoy some more rimfire fun.
The 6 x 5 in the rimfire section is very competitive and may scare off the average Joe shooter.
This is where "tard" came into the title.
The averages in the 6 x 5 top groups at 50 are in the .100's or even less.
These guys have my full respect with their rimfire prowess.
This shoot is something completely different.
Putting the fun back into shooting in general in my estimation.

The next version of the "tard" challenge will be the following:
The A23 target at 50 yrds 25 rounds shot from the support/weak side.
As soon as our monsoon/wind storm passes I'll get a target up.

Well, I've got two 10 round magazines and a Rifle Basix trigger on the way from Brownells, and a lonely 4.5-14x40 Leupold 56130 and 11mm dovetail rings already here, but I'm not shooting support side, not even .22LR. Seeing as how PVT Half-pint ate his jelly donut, I'll jump in, too.

I generally shoot two eyes open but the act of getting my non dominant eye in the scope is a mess. It will be a good challenge.

Wont be able to do it for a couple weeks but I have the month at my disposal.

he is watching mannnn, dont choke...
lol, just kidding just kidding

Great shooting. You knocked the X out of that one. I've let planting be my excuse for not shooting; that's a pretty shitty excuse considering my little acre of veggies compared to what you've probably been doing. I'll get a support side target up soon.

Tardy in getting this done as I've been super busy. This WAS a challenge. Certainly something I never do. Was actually getting somewhat comfortable with it by the end. From the support side...

Tried hitting the "Thanks" button but got some weird error code. Anyway, I agree with your above statement. I think it also forces you to slow down, adhere to proper fundamentals, etc... Probably the single most difficult thing for me was proper cheek weld/eye relief behind the gun. Amazing how natural and quick it is from the strong side and very much a concentrated effort from the support side.

I had an old saying years ago from USPSA pistol comps that I used to pass along to newbies that HATED standards with weak side only. "You'll never win a match shooting weak side, but you can damn sure lose one that way".

Lets see some targets fellas!

Targets anyone...?

I'll get one done here pretty quick. It's gonna be a train wreck and you'll understand why when I post up what .22 I'm gonna do it with. My FieldMaster has irons on it but it's not cycling. Gotta get it fixed. But my first rifle I ever bought as a teenager, Winchester Model 141 looks like it's got a O Ring built up at the muzzle from tens of thousands of rounds down it. It's got a old, cheap, questionable Bushnell on it. Lost the ramp for the rear site a looooooooong time ago. I'll print out a target and we'll see what kind of comical pattern it can make.

Get it over with and just do it with bird shot.

Just highlight the link and copy and paste it to another window. This is done by clicking just to the right of the link then drag to the left highlighting(turning it blue) then right click and click on copy. Now in another window right click and choose paste.
I tried it and it worked for me. Only copy I could find that could be printed on regular printer paper.

LOL. That "link" is on YOUR hard drive. If I can get it from here you have a BIG problem.

First attempt at this target.
Irons with hasty sling.
25 meters/about 28 yards.
As this rifle has a tubular magazine I didn't abide by the mag change requirements.
Really enjoyed this challenge and would encourage others to try it.
Good eye sight is a plus. lol
