Bedding a bergara bmr 22LR

I'm running them at 55" pounds per User's manual. There's just a lot of movement frontwards and backwards. I make sure lug is fully to the rear before tightening the action screws though.

When you loosen them and push the lug to the rear, do you tighten the front screw first? With it at 55" pounds mine is rock solid. I would contact Bergara - you may have a stock with a problem.

Just my two cents worth. I have two BMRs. The stocks are plastic, albeit a thicker plastic compared to other comparable rifles.

With that said, 55 inch-lbs might be too much and cause the plastic to crack. So, I torqued the action screws to 35 inch-lbs.

Are the steel washers (collars) in place on each screw? I had dropped on accidentally and did not know it and could not get a good lock up in fitment. Replaced them and good-to-go. I put the barrel action in and start both screws, make sure it is seated well to the rear and tighen the rear to spec first and the front screw last - both at 55 inch-lb. No movement.

I bedded my action blocks with JB weld. It made a considerable difference in accuracy and consistency. My gun likes 45 inch pounds. I shoot this gun 6 days a week on average and I could tell right off the bat, after I bedded it, how much better it was and it was really good before...
