Hey guys, I have a Bell & Carlson Medalist Tactical A5 Stock (Fully Adjustable). The stock has been on my gun for about a Month, works great and the rifle is very accurate. I had to open up the Barrel Channel when I first got it cause it was too tight to free float my Heavy Barrel. Today when I was at the Range I was loading up the Gears and the Rifle fell over and bumped on a chair on it's side and it cracked the Stock where the bump was. Now it is by no means a Hard Fall or Abuse as there's no chips or paint missing. Just a Crack in the Stock.

My question is, I have the warranty card that came with the Stock that states it has a Limited Life warranty, but it also states that the stock is only covered without any modifications. But now that I've drimeled the Barrel Channel, I'm afraid I might've ruined the warranty on the stock. Has anyone ever had to deal with the B&C customer service or warranty issues? Is this something they'll use against me?

On the warranty/instruction card it also says that the stock is made for factory contoured barrels and modifications are need for heavier barrels. So I don't know if doing this on the Stock will void the warranty. I plan on calling them Monday but just want to do some home work first. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

Re: Bell & Carlson Stock Warranty, Any Expierences???

Send it back to them. They are a great company to deal with. Even though you opened up barrel channel, Bell will still fix it for ya.

+1 for B&C. They will stand behind their product.

Re: Bell & Carlson Stock Warranty, Any Expierences???

Thanks a lot guys! this makes me feel so much better about calling them regarding this tomorrow! I will definitely give them a call and let everyone know how this turns out! Thanks!

Re: Bell & Carlson Stock Warranty, Any Expierences???

Did you happen to purchase your B&C through Stocky's? I had a Medalist A2 arrive with a cosmetic blemish (popped paint bubble) and they replaced it with no hassle. I did pay 1-way return shipping but it was worth it to get a nice clean one.

Re: Bell & Carlson Stock Warranty, Any Expierences???

The purchase was actually through Stocky's. But the stock arrived in good shape and I've already modified it. I doubt Stocky's can do anything about it now. And besides, it'll be kind of dishonest to say this was a factory defect after the fact that I've already modified it and used it. After all it happened because the rifle fell over...but sounds from others that Bell & Carlson have a very decent customer support. Hopefully they'll be kind about this issue...

Re: Bell & Carlson Stock Warranty, Any Expierences???

Agreed, Stocky's will likely refer you to B&C. Sounds like others here have had good luck with them, hopefully you will too.

Re: Bell & Carlson Stock Warranty, Any Expierences???

Def let us know what B&C says as I own one also and would like to know how they handle this.

Re: Bell & Carlson Stock Warranty, Any Expierences???

Yeah,

Great company. They'll more than likely make it right or at least work something out for ya. They are super easy to fix on your own. For less than the cost of shipping. Sand the area well, dig out the area with the crack at little and patch it with bondo and hit it with some kyrlon.

Re: Bell & Carlson Stock Warranty, Any Expierences???

Update for the guys.

Just got a PM from Mr. Wade Dunn Fellow Hide Member (See above post) and a Rep for Bell and Carlson. Mr. Wade is very friendly and helpful. Without even talking to me first he already provided a Service Reference Number for me and asked me to send him Email regarding the issue and the photos of the Crack in the stock. I've already done both. I will be shipping the Stock back to Bell and Carlson tomorrow. At this point I am very pleased with the positive attitude and effort expressed from Mr. Wade. Hopefully the stock will be covered under warranty. I will continue to keep everyone posted on the status of this case.

Thanks all for the support and interest. Hopefully B&C will live up to their name of Great Product and Customer Service.

To be Continued...

Re: Bell & Carlson Stock Warranty, Any Expierences???

You are in good hands with Wade. Great guy, and he will take care of you.

Update #2:

Have been communicating with Wade for the past 2 days via email. I have to say I am very impressed so far with his customer service and willingness to help. I will be shipping the Stock Back to B&C today and attention it to Wade. He has offered that if the stock qualifies to be replaced then he will try to send me a Replacement asap and in any color pattern I prefer. Seem like these stocks can be Painted to any color pattern they offer upon receiving the order.

I am currently waiting for another B&C Stock from Stocky's for my Tikka T3 and they told me that B&C has been out of stock and back orders are 10 Weeks away. However Wade said he will still try to get mine taken care of asap for me. Knowing their inventory situation you can't ask for a better response than this.

As mentioned I will be shipping the stock back to B&C today so it'll probably get to Wade Early next week at the latest. At which time I should be able to know exactly how B&C will resolve this case. I will continue to keep everyone whose interested in this thread Posted on the progress of this Warranty Claim. Thank you all for following and support.

Update #3

Just received confirmation Email this morning from Wade the they've Received the Stock. Wade said he's never seen one of these A5 Medalist Tactical Stocks Crack like the one I did. To be honest I never really heard of a B&C Stock Crack either. I guess it's just my bad luck. The Rifle was ok, but I had a pretty nasty scuff on my Bushnell HDMR Scope

...

Well Wade said the stock is currently being Process and Examined. He hasn't said if it'll be Replaced or Fixed yet, but he did mention the turn around time to be about 3 days so I'm guessing maybe they'll replace it if it's going to be this quick (Crossing My Fingers). Either way, so far I've been Very Impressed and Thankful for Wade's Help and the B&C Response time. I will continue to keep everyone informed of the progress and outcome of this Claim. Thanks everyone for following.

Update #4 (Final Conclusion)

Well guys, I must say one thing. I am nobody special, and I'm certainly not well known amongst the "Shooting Industry". But I must say one thing. I've Never Ever Received such High Standard of Customer Service as I have received from Dunn Wade and Bell & Carlson Team this time.

With the above comments being said, I will conclude the final chapter of this Warranty Claim on my A5 Medalist Tactical Stock.

Last time we stopped at me sending Dunn my Stock for warranty work. During this entire time we were emailing back and forth and he responds Emails Very Promptly and always the Same Day. The Stock arrived at B&C this past Monday 7/2nd. Dunn Emailed me as soon as he got the stock in and confirmed that he already received it and forwarded to the Warranty Department for evaluation to decide if it can be Fixed or Replaced. Dunn told me they're Swamped at the shop, but he'll try his best to get it back to me ASAP. I have to say during this time I was crossing my fingers hoping for a New Replacement (Yea, I know, but who wouldn't?)

Then on Tuesday (The VERY NEXT DAY Dunn got my Stock) he emailed me that my Stock was "Fixed and Refinished" and is already on it's way back to me. Only ONE DAY Turnaround Time!!! I was both Surprised and Uncertain. The crack looked bad, and they did the work in such short amount of time. I was kind of disappointed that it was not replaced.

Here is Exactly what Dunn told me they did to it: "Your stock was what I consider "re-cast". Not just simply a epoxy "glue" the crack repair. The area in which cracked was opened (as well as the opposite side), carbon fiber sheeted and glassed over, cured overnight and "re cast". Not only did we address that area, we also massaged and cleaned up the barrel channel keeping your approximate size of opening. Also, we went over the remaining stock, inspected for shell voids and repaired a couple minor inletting voids as well. In a nut shell, you are receiving a stock that has been worked over very well."

Anyways, I was just happy that at least it was fixed so fast and already on it's way back to me. Due to the July/4th Holiday I didn't get my stock back until today. And when I opened the Box today I was in Total Shock...

The Stock Looks AMAZING!!! I must say, if Dunn didn't tell me that he Fixed my old Stock I would've Believed 100% that I got a Brand Spanking New Stock Back from B&C. Not only they Fixed the Crack, they've also reworked the Barrel Channel to match my Exact Barrel Contour. The stock was also Refinished and Painted to the Color of choice I wanted free of charge as well. All in all I am completely satified with DUNN and B&C and will Definitely be a Customer for them for a Long Long Time! Thanks so much for all the kindness and help to DUNN WADE (HIDE ID: GUNNER75)!!!

Sincerely

Peter Z

Re: Bell & Carlson Stock Warranty, AMAZINGLY GOOD!

I had a a2 on my 6.5x47 lapua that had cracked on the top edge right above the rear action screw. Sent it back and they repaired and repainted it for no charge. They are good people!

Re: Bell & Carlson Stock Warranty, AMAZINGLY GOOD!

I just purchased a B&C light tactical off the back of this great review of the stock and the company. I will be able to make my own judgements once I get it, but it seems to replicate the performance of a hs precision, but without the gorilla size grip and the extra cost.

All retailers, not just firearms related, need to take notice that in this day and age of internet shopping, customer service is the only thing that will keep buyers returning to your product over a similar competitiors product.

That's GREAT!!! Glad to know my little review can do some Good for B&C. I'm sure which ever model you ordered you won't be Disappointed!!! P.S. If any issues, do contact Dunn as he is THE MAN at B&C as far as I'm Concerned. Good Luck with your Stock Sir!

Re: Bell & Carlson Stock Warranty, AMAZINGLY GOOD!

I was on the fence about ordering a B&C stock for a project I want to start but this has just sealed the deal on it.It is good to see companies that are doing it right.

Re: Bell & Carlson Stock Warranty, AMAZINGLY GOOD!

Yeah I ordered the 'Light Tactical' variant. Not sure exactly what model it is as that is all it was listed as on the site I purchased it off. It is the one with a fairly slim grip, butt hook and modest sized forearm. In black of course... high speed low drag rifles only come in shades of black (nothing to do with that being the only colour available)

^^^^That's Freaken Funny!!!

But yea, I think you're talking about their A3 "Hook" Light Tactical Stock. I got one of those in a Black/Gray Webbing. It Looks Freaken Badass on a Stainless Rifle!!! I'm sure you'll like it! Put a Stock Pack/Cheek Piece on it and you're good to go! It'll be a Handy 10 lb rifle with Scope and Factory Bottom Metal.

Re: Bell & Carlson Stock Warranty, AMAZINGLY GOOD!

Glad everything worked out for you. I have one of their stocks also. By the way when you talked to the B&C rep did you get any info on when they are supposed to come out with the stocks inletted for an aftermarket dbm? I read somewhere earlier this year that it was in the works.

Re: Bell & Carlson Stock Warranty, AMAZINGLY GOOD!

I've got one of these stock... the fully adjustable, and like it very well. I had to modify mine as well, I'm left handed and they don't do this stock in left hand. Is probably the most comfortable prone stock I've used. Really glad to here this turned out as well as it did!

Re: Bell & Carlson Stock Warranty, AMAZINGLY GOOD!

Sorry you had the initial trouble but it is great to know that if I have ever trouble with mine they will be there to back their product.

I agree with the people above that if more companies stand behind their products like this, many wouldn't be in the trouble they are in now

No problem bro. Actually the Stock Pack works just as well with the A3 Hook B&C Stock. Our very own LONEWOLFUSMC has a Remington 700 in that Same Exact Stock that has a Stock Pack on it. The 3 straps on the Pack is fully adjustable so you can get it to fit on the Hook No Problems! Below is a video link of LoneWolf's Bolt Action Precision Rilfe Cleaning Videos that shows how the Stock Pack was put on and taken off. I have one on almost all of my rifles!

Re: Bell & Carlson Stock Warranty, AMAZINGLY GOOD!

I appreciate and applaud B&C's excellent customer service as shown here...I love the B&C stock line...THE ONLY GRIPE I HAVE WITH THEM IS THEY REFUSE TO SUPPORT THE SAVAGE 110 LONG ACTION WITH THEIR TACTICAL LINE OF STOCKS...had to spend my $$$ elsewhere when what I really wanted was a B&C Tactical Savage LA...had to by 3 Choates...I'm betting if they did so they'd sell thousands of them...

I'd love to have a conversation with one of their reps about it...If your a B&C rep on here...feel free to PM me...

I agree if they released a 110 savage long action stock I would buy it asap. It almost seems like a "no-brainer" since most of the Savage 110 stocks are sooooo cheap and flimsy.

Re: Bell & Carlson Stock Warranty, AMAZINGLY GOOD!

Well this thread has switched my mind for sure. I was looking for a HSP like the one on my VS SFII and I will now be replacing my HSP with a light tactical, and ordering an A2 Tactical as well. If someone goes this far to help a customer, then they have my business. I think we all need to see if Rem can't use B&C stocks to begin with, and all Sendaros and other HS stocks be replace by BC. I am a 700 lover and always have been, but seems they are losing ground, as the latest Shooting Times magazine the 700 lost accuracy tests to the Winchester M70, and we all know what Savage is putting out these days. Looks like Remington needs to slow down, and get back to what made them one of the best in the past. Thank you B&C, you will not only save me money, but put my mind at ease as well
