Bench rest front and rear setup

Hello, I would like some opinions on a good bench rest setup for front and rear that works well with Mcmillan a5 stocks. I always shoot from bipod and rear bag but would like to see how it shoots out of a good bench rest and just for something different once in awhile.

Not looking to spend a fortune so any help is appreciated

A good benchrest setup will require a windage top and a good front bag to fit the stock. There are some used rest for sale over on benchrest central and if you look long enough you can find the bags used also. A decent rest will run at least $250 used, the front bag new can be $50 and a rear bag will run about $75 to $100.

If you don't want to spend that kind of money I would stay with the bipod because it will do as well as a cheap rest. Another option may be a used Cadwell fire control rest used from ebay.

The sinclair rest are of good quality but the lower cost windage controls will cause you to move from your shooting position to adjust so look for one that can be adjusted while staying in position.

Shooters Choice in PA is also another place to look for used stuff.

Farley rests. Nothing better. All of my friends who shoot benchrest use them. They are the best out there. They are very very popular with the benchrest community. You may have to modify the padding a little to fit tight on your A5. But I have used one with an A5 with outstanding results. Craftsman shift is top notch, and they work flawlessly.

Not the cheapest, but darn sure not the most expensive. Give em a look.

Check out the Hartt rest. Similar to the sinclair. I bought a used one fpr around $50..

Checkout Shadetree rest. For the money they are pretty good.

I find that i shoot more accurately from the bi-pod, but for rests i like just dual sand bags, one front, one rear

If it is for once in a while, then a Hart would be good. Rear bag would be whatever you use off the bi-pod. JPG
