Bench Tripod?

Re: Bench Tripod?

Thanks for the feedback and the link.
I took a look but those are cradle type. Would this work very well for holding a big Spotting scope steady? My Lecia has a mount on the bottom for screwing in a tripod adapter which is long and narrow. Seems like if you set it in a cradle it would move around a lot.

Re: Bench Tripod?

It is still a tripod...meaning it has a standard screw for attaching anything with a ¼”x20 tripod thread (like your spotter). The cradles thread onto the screw just like any standard tripod. I have used my Pentax PF-80ED-A spotter (larger than your Televid 77) on my PRS tripod and it works fine. Sometimes I use mine with the cradle for shooting and other times I put the spotter on it...nice to not have to carry a bunch of tripods/scope stands around.

Re: Bench Tripod?

you should try bh photo video for tripods also. you can modify your search by height , size etc. I just picked up one from them yesterday. just make sure the tripod supports the weight of your scope(+1 more for prs also).

Re: Bench Tripod?

I have a Ray-vin mount for my Leica. For using it on the bench I bought a set of those cheap pipe clamps that use black gas pipe. I had to turn down a little as mine is the 3/4 inch head, the 1" might fit as is. The Ray-vin is worth every penny, the clamp is cheap, rock solid, and adjusts to almost any bench. Hope this helps.

Re: Bench Tripod?

Platypus also has a little adapter to mount your spotter scope on the tripod, with a quick lever connector. No fumble with screws in the dark. If you buy his cradle and a tripod, I think he either throws it in, or it's cheap. Good kit tho... He is GTG for sure.

Re: Bench Tripod?

I wish I had a payroll because I would certainly hire some of you gentlemen. Thank you for the kind words of endorsement and for highlighting features of the tripods and cradles as well as providing good operational instruction.
If anyone should have any other questions about the tripods or cradles do not hesitate to give me a call 281-541-1549 or drop me an email to [email protected] .

Take care,
