Benchmark Powder

I have a bunch of 223/556 range pick up and 4LBS of benchmark sitting around. Was wondering if anybody used it with Hornady 55GR FMJBT's

I use 25 grains with 55 v max and rem 71/2 primers

I use the exact same load as jpcowboy. It will work no doubt about that but there are cheaper options.

Hodgdon lists 25.3 gr as a max with a 55, which makes 3260 FPS at 50k psi. Seems
Like a good combo. I use benchmark in the 20 Practical with 39’s and 25.5 gr. Benchmark is a good powder.

So do you think I would be good to go at 25GRS out of a AR or should I test some before I load a good bit?

Your good to go. I have run 25 grains on a 75 grain bullet in a ar. Not the smartest thing I have ever done but it held together just fine.

Your benchmark and the 55's will work very well together. load up a couple batches of test loads @ 24-25 grains, check for pressure signs and then pick your load & go.

My current favorite powder for my Wylde AR's is 8208 XBR. Good in all bullet weights.

With most 55gr I use 24.6 for accuracy in my AR. Daughters bolt rifle likes 24.9. I try to keep a lot of it on hand.

For me depending on which gun and bullet they all are from 25 to 25.5 grains, brass does make a difference more so than the bullet.

Tried some loads today and 24.5 seems to be the ticket.
