I've been thinking about getting into long range shooting for a few years now and have decided to purchase something and move forward. I'm big into handguns but this is fairly uncharted territory for me. After researching everything to death I've come to the conclusion that opinions and reviews are all over the place. I don't want to wait for a custom build and if I decide to sell later due to lack of interest I'm not overly concerned about it. I think I've narrowed it down to the Beraga LRP Elite or the BMP in 6.5. It looks like there's about a 1k difference between the two but if history repeats its self I'll be upgrading the BMP to something closer to the LRP Elite in the not to distant future so I'm thinking of just starting with it. I've seen a few youtube reviews on the LRP Elite but not too many doing a search on here. What is everyone's opinion on the rifles listed? Do I need to rethink this (again)

I need something that can run well on factory ammo because I really don't want to start reloading again. I'm also looking for a scope to go with the rifle. I have a Vortex PST on my AR15 and it's pretty nice but I'm looking for something with better glass to go with the higher magnification. Any suggestions or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Bergara seem like nice rifles, but I'm not too happy about the contour of their barrels. They're rather light on profile more suited to a hunting rifle than a precision tactical rifle or benchrest gun.

Just to throw a idea out there the regular LRP is $800 cheaper than the Elite and the ONLY difference is the chassis. I called Bergara and confirmed this a little while ago. Seems like it would be a good choice since it’s just just a Little moe than the BMP. I’d be curious if the actions on the BMP are different than the LRPs. It seems the LRP actions are better since they go out of their way to describe them at Preium actions.

You should call Bergara and ask.

Yeah. I have a BMP and it’s a nice rifle. It has a #5 barrel contour. Not a thin profile like the hunting line. I practice 15 shot strings in 2 mins without any problems. The action is essentially a rem 700 foot print. But if you are upgrading the trigger right off, depending on the trigger you buy, might as well upgrade to the LRP.

I used to be a custom only gun buyer. Played with a Ruger RPR for a while and grew frustrated with it's shortcomings. Went with a Bergara LRP, not the Elite. With their Premier line, you get the trued action that you won't get with the BMP. I thought I would regret not getting the Elite due to the stock but quickly grew to like the XLR stock. I did put a XLR folding adapter on it as loosening the cheek riser to accept a bore guide got to be a pain. To me, it's far superior to the RPR. Smooth action, very accurate. It's custom gun accuracy without the price tag.

I don't handload, but using Hornady 140gr ELD and Hornady Black.....my groups (always 5 round) are in the .5 neighborhood. Some a little smaller, some a little larger....but I know it's a .5 moa gun if I don't screw it up.

I have a Athon Cronus BTR 4.5-29 atop it in Seekins rings. I really like the Cronus and sold an AMG to buy a 2nd.

I just ordered the Bergara LRP Premiere Elite in 6.5 on Friday, upgrading from a Savage 10 FCP-SR I was using for local PRS matches. Hope to have it in hand by the middle of the week and rounds down range next weekend. I too was looking at a custom build, but the cost was getting out of hand once I started picking everything out... I have high hopes for this rifle, from what I've read and watched I shouldn't be disappointed. I doubt you will either.

I went and checked the LRP's out again today and think I'll be buying one this week. I like the price of the BMP but know I'll kick myself later for not ponying up the money now. I'm also going to order the Vortex Razor gen II to top it off. The LRP and LRP Elite I'm looking at both have factory targets in the .3 to .350 range but one of them is more in the top left corner of the white and the other is more in the red. In the grand scope of things do you think it matters?

No. That’s not a concern. That’s just a zero/scope issue. That the group is so small in a factory gun is all you need to worry about. They aren’t shooting those test groups for accuracy, they’re shooting them to show Precision.

What is the benefit of this rifle over the tikka tac a1 if any? They seem to be very similar.

There's a guy on the 65creedmoor forums and he ended up buying a Bergara LRP over the Tikka Tac because it felt better to him when shouldering it. Both rifles really look nice though and can't go wrong with either.

Do yourself a favor get the Premier action with the LRP over the B14 BMP, just the bolt and the stainless alone are worth the extra bucks.
