i have searched, and looked around a little bit, but does a 92FS make a good host for a can (YHM cobra. it already have the booster, nelson device, etc)? what barrel manufacturer? from the little bit of research i did, there seems to be some problems with running a can on the 92FS. the spring needs changed and something to do with the frame???

right now, i have an XDm 3.8. i should have my storm lake barrel in a month, and my can around x-mas/new years.

i was looking at the sig P226 elite which is ready to go out of the box, but i can't wrap my head around the cost.

thanks in advance.

I was issued a number of these:

The Beretta is NOT an easy design to suppress and this design was just OK. I would never buy one with my own money.

I have a 92FS with a threaded barrel and it works nicely. The benefit of the 92 is that you can use a fixed barrel mount.

The 226 also makes an excellent host but it will need some piston/disconnector because of the tilting lockup barrel. If you do not want the cost of the elite buy any 226 and a factory threaded barrel.

OR go up a notch to my favorite suppressed host - a 226 X5 Tactical.

What suppressor are you using and how close are you holding to your face? I can't recall that problem with 9mm and any pistol. Perhaps I have longer arms.

Re: beretta 92FS as a can host?

I've run several PT92s which is pretty similar to the beretta with just the end of the stock barrel threaded. I've found if you polish the locking block with a brass brush they run without any device. I run a Gemtech trinity (no booster/device), and haven't tried anything else on it. It's a bit tricky getting it threaded as the machinist doesn't have a whole lot of room to work with, but I've had 3 barrels threaded and they all worked fine in two different pistols (all the same can).

I had originally tried changing the spring, but that didn't change the problems I was having. Once again this is a Taurus, so I don't know if things would change a lot or not.

SWR Trident with Beretta M9, factory threaded barrel with LCD as fixed mount wouldn't cycle.

You could never shoot it without eye pro...lots of debris comes back. Same pistol with Gemtech Tundra has same result.

I shot a civi version (AAC) once - I thought it sounded OK and thought the QD feature was novel, but the sights on the can were superfluous. Some folks have been trying trying to get DeGroat Armaments to make a slide lock over on Silencertalk.

Suppressor issues aside, I'm just not a big fan of the slide mounted controls on a Burrito.

Good luck

what with the big ass lever thing? excuse my highly technical jargon. </div></div>

A slide lock to keep the slide closed and lower the noise. Of course that makes it a single shot. It makes a difference in my (as the shooter) perception of the noise in rifles but I cannot really tell as big of a difference with pistols. I simply keep the slide shut by holding the slide.
