Just came accross this rifle today, looks like an interesting rifle but firmly in the hunting rifle category.
If the concepts behind the BRX1 and Sako S20 were combined I think you'd have an excellent rifle that could almost be a one rifle solution to 90% of use cases.

I like that they've thought about barrel change/calibre swap capabilities but it sounds like the barrel and barrel extesion/reciever will be changed as a whole.

They've indicated that different stock options will be available (like the S20) but as they haven't produced any a launch chances are they won't be putting that as much effort into a "tactical" stock as they will the hunting one.

The magazine they are using makes it pretty clear this rifle is aimed solely at hunting, sure they might make a 10 round magazine at some stage but don't see them offering AICS mags as an option.

Saw some details on this , and it looks really well thought out , they spent 7 yrs on it , it would just need a folding chassis type stock , a longer tunion/block with more bolts that secure into the chassis ,and maybe heavier scope mount etc to match heavier barrel etc , and a match trigger upgrade , it would be awesome !!!.

At the moment it use's double feed plastic mags for 308 & 300WM , so just swap barrel , bolt head & mag , and you are done , its bolt is like AR15/10 in 308 , and in 300WM has a second row of locking lugs ,

Its had more input from Beretta's military manufacturing side than civil , as such it seems much more solid & robust design & engineering , only fault so far its not a super lite weight hunting rifle , that is maybe the only real downside I can see .

No to AICS , its design is more AR10/15 , so needs double feed mag design .

Looks like a Blaser/Benelli Lupo hybrid. Will be hard to establish place in the market with the new Savage Impulse released last year.

I’ll take this over the Savage. If they can come out with a stock like THLR has for his Blaser they can have my money. I’ve been watching a lot of driven hunts on YT and the straight pulls are extremely quick for follow up shots and the next animal screaming through the area at warp speed.

I would buy one of these in a heartbeat if I could get my hands on one and they had more calibers out. I want one in 6.5x55 so bad. The more I look at the engineering of them it’s pretty impressive. The savage is cheap and cheesy as hell.

Can someone enlighten me on this. Why the bolt won’t just slide back open if you bump the buttstock or during firing? Unlike the savage impulse, the bolt lever doesn’t move a tiny bit to engage the locking lugs.

It is uses a inertia block, you can open by hand, but not large forces. And it uses a ar-15 style rotating bolt head and locking lugs. Watch a. Few videos on it. Quite a lot of engineering to it. Also there is a large spring loaded lever near the sear that pushes the action forward and keeps it there.

Thanks for the video. I'm still not clear on how is that inertia block (shown at 14:34), which is mounted on the frame, is interacting with the trigger and the bolt. Also, if this inertia block needs to be a fine tuned piece to ensure the safety of the rifle, it would make it risky to go with an aftermarket frame

Yeah I’m not sure. It seems to be In the aluminum backbone of thr system. Maybe it could be swapped. Only time will tell what aftermarket support it gets over time.

That dickhead referred to a projectile as a “bullet head”. He lost all the credibility afforded to him by his accent.

Well gun showed up to my FFL In 2 days time. Initial impressions are pretty good. Thing is reallly light. Even with a pmii on top it weighs next to nothing. Action is smooth and fast. Curious how it will shoot. I’m having a hard time figuring out how they put the barrel and ar-15 style receiver extension to the barrels. I’m hoping they are threaded but it’s hard to tell. Only reason is I’m curious as to how hard it would be to do a custom barrel for these in case they don’t ever made a match or varmint barrel for these as a little heavier barrel would be nice. Most reviews say these are tack drivers as they so we will see.

Yeah I wouldn’t think so, scope has a lot of eye relief and sets my head back a ways on the stock but I might get a chance to shoot after work tomarrow maybe. Well see

Got a chance to put a few rounds through it and break in the barrels little. Maybe 30 rounds. Basically shooting in a blizzard tho haha. Northern Michigan is pretty nasty atm. Sub minute with Norma white tail run of the mil soft point. Tipped core lock reming didn’t shoot too bad maybe 1.5 moa. Federal power shock was about the same. I ordered some lapua brass and will make up a match load for it and see if I can refine it’s accuracy. The gun is really light. 30-06 is pretty stout in that rifle on the bench. I’m not in love with the trigger. Has a slight take up and creep then breaks. I’m a little spoiled from my trg 22 trigger tho. The action is buttery smooth and works with barley any effort. And no it doesn’t hit me in the nose. And I have a big snoze lol. Sonde it’s a early European version it has the annoying m14x1 rh muzzle thread . So I had to order a adapter to install my suppressor on it. Which would help with the recoil a bit. The thin barrel doesn’t get too hot even with shooting grips back to back. I would like them to come out with a varmint contour tho. I don’t mind a little weight. I think the gun has some real potential. Just needs the extra barrels in different contours and calibers. And maybe. A little trigger work. All in all I think it’s very worth the price point. If the street prices come in at like 1200-1500 I think they would sell like hot cakes if they marketed here at all. I haven’t shot anything quite like it. It’s really a piece of engineering.

Got another chance to freeze my balls off shooting the brx. The more I play with The gun the more it amazes me. Threw some
168 hornaday match bthp Imr 4895 3.34”. No mater the load the thing just kept packin the rounds into the same holes haha. Final load was sub 10 fps sd and put 4/5 into .37” don’t know what they are doing to these sporter barrels but they just plain shoot!!!!! With my suppressor on it the recoil is really mild and it’s nice and quiet! Didn’t like the trigger at first but I’m getting used to it now!

Well as usual berretta is being slow af about officially bringing the brx1 to the states officially and all the parts and accessories with it. But I have had a good amount of trigger time behind it. It’s basically taken the role of my go to walking and stalking deer hunting rifle. It’s well balanced, light weight, and shoots great. Trigger has taken some time to get used to. Still holding my fingers crossed on them someday comming out with a 6.5x55 varmint barrel or at least a creedmoor. But for now the old 30-06 will have to do. Any load a work up for it usually just makes 1 little bug hole with a hot barrel or cold. And if anything is shoots better hot haha.

Glad to see this. I’m throwing a 300WSM barrel on my tl3 build for a bit more range and replacing my .308 barrel with a BRX1-308 for that 500 and in game. Should be coming in a few weeks. Very excited about it.

It’s a cool platform that doesn’t get enough attention, double check the torque on ur pic rail screws when it shows up, mine was loose. Other than that it’s been great! Still blows me away how much it likes my hand loads for such a thin barrel.

Beretta's lackluster service or magazine/parts availability here in the states is the only negative I can think of.
Savage is also in the same boat, as what's the use in having a switch barrel system when no bolt parts or barrel assy's are available to switch barrels ?

Right on, will do. As a lefty with 4 right handed kids and right handed wife… if I’m satisfied with it I’ll likely grab more than one. At this point all my guns other than some classics are quick switch barrels from my AI, to my LMT’s… this guns got some cool features as far as I’m concerned. Definitely worth giving a try imo but I’ve seen so little on it. I was glad to see your positive feedback. I still get free 99 .308 once fired match brass from old teammates so I hunt with mostly .308 these days. Ordered the 20” green .308.

No doubt, I’m hopeful. It would be nice to have a 243 barrel for the kiddos. Them getting this thing stateside is the first step so we shall see. I’m definitely going to report back after I get it to the range.

Yep! Grabbed a few magazines while I could … just handling this thing and I’m loving it so far. After I get a load worked out I’ll be taking it out on the coast to chase some hogs.
