Bergara action ejection/extraction issue

Having a issue with my bergara b-14 action, when I go to cycle the bolt the spent case hits the back side of the action and bounces back in instead of being launched out of the way. Wondering if anyone else has had this issue and what I need to do to fix it. Thanks.

Are you sure the case isn't hitting the windage turret and bouncing back in? Look at the bottom of the windage turret for any marks.

That’s the same thing I thought it was doing, I even removed my extractor and filed the top corner down some to try and change the ejection angle, wasn’t until I took a slow motion video to actually see where it was hitting. Those pics are screenshots from the video.

I’m gonna call it a problem because about 4 out of 5 times the shell falls back and jams when trying to close the bolt. Would a heavier ejector spring possibly help? It seems that if I cycle slow it will eject the shell, but running the bolt quickly or even at a “normal” speed it does this like it doesn’t have time to eject. Hopefully that makes sense, that’s the best way I can think to explain it.

From what you describe it does seem like the ejector spring needs to be stiffer. I always wondered why the ejector plunger was pretty hard to push in.

Very common with Bergara. They need to put a heavier ejector spring in the bolt. Maybe a new one from Bergara will work better.

That will probably do it, it did fine for the first 200 or so rounds and it’s been getting worse over time, around 700 through it now and it’s almost everytime it fails

I had a similar issue my ejector spring at around 2200 rounds, it just lost tension. I called bergara they sent me the extractor and ejector parts issue resolved.

This is good to know, I have a B14 action and around 300 rounds trough no issues so far...

Thanks guys, I’ll make a call to bergara tomorrow and see if I can get a new spring, anyone know of any better aftermarket options?

It is possible to put the ejector in the wrong way. It might be worth checking it out if you have a punch and hammer.

I know this is a massive necro, but do you happen to have a pic of what the ejector looks like when correctly installed?
