Bergara has a new rimfire.

I was honest with them in an email I sent. Here is the content of the email with the serial number, date of purchase, etc, deleted.
"I understand there is a new firing pin assembly available for the B 14R rifle due to light strikes.
I have experienced this with my rifle since new with certain ammo. It has been an issue that limits my ammo choices for competitive shooting.
If a light strike occurs, I have found that looking at the case shows a marginal strike/hit from the firing pin. After rechambering and trying again it fires. Blamed ammo initially, but then after numerous "misfires", I tried just recocking the bolt without ejecting shell and they all fire on the second hit, in the original location.
I am using the rifle with the factory trigger so it is not an aftermarket problem. Has been an issue since first day fired.
How do I go about getting the new improved firing pin assembly?"
I will get out later this morning for testing and evaluation. Will post results upon my return from range.
Thanks for sharing. If possible could you measure the wire diameter on the initial spring? I haven't had any issue with light strikes but would like to know which spring is in mine.
Is that the carbon barrel? If so, how sweet. looking forward to hearing how it does and what you think of it. Hope it piles them up in one small hole. Good luck with it.
It's very difficult to measure the wire diameter without removing the spring from the assembly which I prefer not to do. Best I can measure is .040" diameter wire. Easiest way to tell is to count the coils. The original has 17, the updated has 14. If you compare to the pic on page 10 of this thread it is fairly easy to confirm.
Since your rifle was the one that prompted me to buy one, I would bet you have the original spring.
I did get out to shoot yesterday, conditions were all over the place but rifle performed fine. The offending lot of CCI that had occasional light strikes went off without a problem. Noticeable heavier impact on cases.
I finally got to pick up my steel barreled B14R on Saturday, installed a 20 MOA rail and Athlon Ares BTR with enough time to hit the range. It was kind of windy with swirling winds 5-10 mph so I didn't even bring any of the better quality match ammo. I will say I am very pleased after the long wait to get one and how well it was shooting. Absolutely no issues with the operations. I shot about 350 round through it and even with the windy conditions inexpensive ammo I did get a couple 5 shot groups that measured .470, .480 and .495 outside to outside or .248, .258 and .273 center to center. Those were with CCI SV, CCI subsonic and Norma Tac-22, I'm not sure which was which since I'm at work. I can say that the B14R is considerably more consistent even with the bulk type ammo than the Ruger precision rimfire I traded in on this. I will be looking at triggers next since I know of at least one group opened up from the heavier pull. Even at it's lowest it's nowhere near as light at my CZ455 with the spring changed out. Overall I am more than pleased with the rifle and it will get fed a very healthy dose of lead treatment over the coming years.

Yeah, slipped my mind about counting coils. I'll do that today. More than likely I have the smaller wire. One thing I will do is start paying more attention to the strikes the next time I shoot it.
Targets from today below, all shot at 50 yards as 5 round groups. Suppressed groups to the left of each aiming point, unsuppressed to the right. 50 Rounds each of Remington/Eley club, Center X, SK Standard+ and SK Pistol Match Special. Overall better ammo than I've shot the past two range trips and better groups as well, which I suppose should be expected. A few in there that I am particularly pleased with. SK Pistol Match Special showing some nice potential, some nice groups with Center X as well. Seems like I should experiment with some more Eley loads.
The trend of unsuppressed groups averaging better than suppressed groups continues with the exception of Center X.
I messed up a bit on a pair of groups with the Eley, put 6 rounds into one group and 4 rounds into another. Interestingly the 6 round group was considerably better than the 4 rounds

I ordered mine off Bergara's site, it was back order about 3 weeks from time I ordered and received. I tried to install several vudoo mags and it wouldn't work in my setup, too tight. Might see if others have had any luck
Ordered one as soon as my distro had some in stock a few weeks ago and received on 5/15. Zero issues on the first trip to the range. Factory trigger. Shoots CCI SV well at 50yds with suppressor. Tried a group from a 12yo box of Eley just for S&Gs - the lube was dried - and it shot well also. Havent tested a full gamut of ammo types yet.
From looking at the fired cases it appears you have the updated striker assembly with the heavier spring. Good Shooting also!
Just took the bolt apart and measured (as best I could) the coil wire. Seems to be .04x", 14 turns. Perhaps Bergara is shipping them with the heavier FP spring now?

The 1/16" allen for takedown would not fit into the shroud as mentioned. The biggest that would fit was a #53 drill (.059").

The number of coils in your spring would be the updated spring. You should have no problems. Good luck with it, they are real shooters!
Good! So far, with limited range time, it has shot very well at 50yds. Interested to see how it holds up at 100yds.
Does anyone know if the HMR stock that is on the B14R is the same (like can be used on any other rem700) as the one the put on the centerfires? Looking at a deal to end up with a stock and chassis and sell the one I don't like, but if the rimfire version is different I may pass on the chassis.
I'm pretty sure it is the same-However, I don't have one.
I was waiting for the barreled action option only.
But every photo I've seen of the complete rifle has the longer (Short action cartridge) ejection port cut rather than a 22lr sized cut.

Thanks for the article link. Google search didn't get me that one. My confusion came from thinking the HMR stock had separate mini-chassis that went into the plastic like a KRG Bravo. All the pictures I could find of the rimfire stock had nothing inside, so I was concerned Bergara had made a change but still called it the "HMR".
Put a few hundred rounds through a carbon fiber Bergara B14R today. I picked this up at South Dakota Arms in Miller, SD. Great outfit with great people. Give them a call if you are looking to get a Bergara rimfire. (605) 870-2008
This rifle is setup with Hawkins Precision hybrid rings, vortex diamondback FFP 6-24, and atlas PSR bipod. Rifle is totally factory. Had a few failure to eject, where the case extracted, but then stayed in the action and then prohibited bolt closure. Generally, the rifle is well built for the price point and ran well. It seems to be somewhat of a picky eater, and seems to throw some pretty wild flyers once in a while. Not uncommon for 3-4 shots to land touching each other, then one goes zinging off, doubling the group size. This particular sample REALLY liked a lot number of Lapua Polar Biathlon I have. I attribute the wild flyers to bullets being handled indelicately during magazine feeding, and it could very well be that the unique shape of the polar biathlon lends itself to feeding from this setup with more uniformity. I shot some more polar biathlon and it performed similarly, shooting in the .2's, .3's, and .4's. So clearly if a person does some lot testing, you'll likely run into a lot number that will shoot pretty good. The rifle is clearly capable of shooting well, despite the fact it is a lightweight carbon fiber setup and not a target rifle.
There was an attempt made to stick a TT Diamond and a Timney 517 in this rifle, though both were relatively loose fitting in the action. The action slot is a bit wide, and both triggers seemed to function well enough, but they felt very odd. The factory trigger is surprisingly good for a rifle at this price point. A bit weighty for some shooters, being on the 3lbs+ range, but very crisp and very shootable. This was nice to see.
Another random note; I was setting this up for youth shooters. I loosened up the screws in the recoil pad, removed all the spacers, and began tightening the screws back up. Before I was able to get the recoil pad tight with no spacers, the included screws would have popped right out the front of the stock, just behind the cheek piece. Luckily I realized what was happening and stopped before the screw actually made its way out. You'll need to source your own screws if you want to setup for little miniature type humans.
It certainly won't be taking the place of a TS Customs RimX build, and at 1/4 the price... I wouldn't expect it to either. If you're after a rimfire rifle with rem700 compatibility that will perform solidly around half-inch at 50yd, or slightly better with lot tested ammo, I'd say the Bergara deserves a look.

My Triggertech really closes hard, and upon inspection it looks like it is damaging the sear on the TT.
Mine measures about .663.
It appears the sear on the TT is about .040 longer than the stock trigger sear.

I'm getting .649" I sent my rifle back early with the Jewell trigger installed. The striker surface appeares to be worked. The package slip doesn't say what they done. What ever they done it's what I'm wanting to simulate the other match rifles. My wife and son enjoy, soon will be taking it over lol. Should have bought two
As I have both the original striker assembly and the updated assembly, I measured the length of the "flat" on both.
The original has a length of .673". The updated striker assembly with the heavier spring measures .650".
So the length of the updated assembly has a shorter sear surface as well as a heavier spring.
I have shot over 1,000 rounds since installation of the updated assembly with no issues.

I’ve been planning on buying one of these with the standard steel barrel, as I was a little apprehensive about the cf barrel accuracy potential, but now with the review above I’m back to thinking that the cf version might be the way to go.
Anyone else pondering this scenario have any suggestions to sway me one way or the other?

If you plan on shooting it off a bag on the forend (eg NRL22 /PRS style matches), the extra forward weight of the steel barrel will balance better, and the extra weight will be more stable.
Good point. Bergara isn't sending stuff any where unless they've ordered it.
Let's see if I have this right. Dealers don't order them thats why they don't have them. Distributors don't have them because they don't order them from Bergara. Bergara don't have them most of the time because no one orders them? The fact is Bergara can't keep up with the demand for the rifles or the parts.
The point trying to be made is you're making a gripe toward a manufacturer but dealers in the firearns industry often do a poor job of focusing on anything other than firearms and ammo often neglecting to order key accessories.
Most firearm manufacturers can't keep up right now. Bergara has a wildly successful product and is trying to keep up with a further elevated demand and a strained manufacturing process. They got mags stateside, distributors and dealers that did order them will likely see that product any day now. Be patient. They're trying to meet your need best as they can.
I assume that there could be a manufacturers issue due to Covid-19, some areas in Spain got hit really hard. Firearms and magazines are most likely not an essential business overseas.

I was up in the air about whether to get a steel or CF barrel rifle. I was leaning toward a steel one until I read some posts of guys with the CF rifles. My local dealer had a CF one in stock so I took the decision to buy it. When I got there, he had a steel version also. I bought the CF barreled one after handling both of them. The steel barreled version seemed a lot heavier, way more than what the specs say. I got to go out and shoot it today. I was using Eley Standard, Eley Match Xtra and R50. I loaded 10 rounds of standard up to sight it in and shoot a 5 shot group, then shot a 10 round group with the Match xtra and 10 with the R50. All shots were at 50 yards. There was a little wind that was coming straight in towards me. Pics show the first 30 rounds shot thru this rifle. Me likey.

Is this tapped for a 6-48 screw? I ordered a seekins 30 moa rail off amazon and upon just trying to install it, the screws are too big. They almost fit in the 8/32 hole on my wire strippers so I think they sent the 8-40. Just wanted to verify

Haven't updated with my results in a while. I have a few targets to share so I'll do it in two posts. In this post targets are from 5/26 and 5/29. All shot at 50 yards in 5 round groups, measurements taken outside edge to outside edge minus .224". 4 of 5 have the suppressed groups on the left and unsuppressed on the right, messed up one target and the 5/29 Flatnose match is opposite.

Got my barreled action and mags a week and a half ago and got it built. Grayboe stock, Timney 517 trigger. I practiced and had some really good coaching that really corrected some stability issues I was having with positional shooting. Shot my new toy in this last Saturday's NRL22 match at my club. I did have some failures to extract on my second stage that cost me some points. I believe I had lead build up in the throat. Scrubbed it after the stage and recovered nicely. I usually finish middle of the pack but managed to take 4th Saturday. This was huge for me, especially considering I outscored 2-3 of the guys I consider "guys to beat" in our group and was by far my best showing since I started shooting NRL22 in November 2018.

Did you have any fitment issues with the Grayboe stock, e.g. trigger, bottom metal, barrel contour? I'm deciding between a Grayboe or an AG Composites Gladius while I wait for my barreled action to come in.
No fit issues with the Grayboe Ridgeback and Seekins bottom metal with the Bergara and Timney 517. Love that stock!
