Bergara Premier Action Questions

Good Evening All,

So I recently had a TL3 and sold that because I'm interested in moving into a long action platform. I'm not sure that I want to invest the money again into a whole new TL3 setup in long action, but I do have some questions about Bergara Premier Actions that I would greatly appreciate assistance on.

1. Is this type of action then similar to the TL3 or Savage in that it doesn't require being blueprinted?
2. Similarly, given that it has a floating bolt head, could I do caliber and barrel changes without sending it to a gunsmith like the TL3 or Savage?
3. Does it fit into the Remington 700 Footprint for stocks?

Any assistance or advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

1. It’s similar to Savage in that it has an interchangeable bolt head, Savage type extractor and ejector. No need for blueprinting since it’s one of the tightest and smoothest actions out there. However, the fact that it’s a savage style extractor/ejector means that you may or may not run into ejection problems... I did... Bighorn uses a mechanical ejector and therefore it has no issues there
2. Caliber changes are really not possible with regular prefits since it’s a coned bolt nose. I guess if you have your smith chamber a few barrels then it’s a non issue
3. Yes, it’s a Remington 700 footprint so triggers, chassis and stocks should be good to go

So in that case, will it accept prefits or do I need a gunsmith to change the barrels for me? Or just to chamber the barrel like a normal Remington 700?

As far as I know you’ll need a gunsmith to cut it to match the cones nose. Never heard of a prefit for Bergara.

wont do prefits like the TL3, but a smith can do prefits after action in hand

get the TL3 or wait for the soon to be announced origin long action

.590" bolt face would be for large magnums (i.e: 338 LM, 338 NM, 300 NM). IIRC regular magnums (300 WM, 28 Nosler, 7 mm Rem Mag, etc) use .540" bolt face.
I doubt the Origin would have a .590" bolt face. Not sure the action is even designed for those large calibers/cartridges. May be someone from Zermatt/Bighorn can clarify

TL3 or variant. ray hinted at something a week ago or so

i wouldnt mind a 3 lug bighorn
