Bergara Premier action

I have a Bergara Premier barreled action that was original an LRP 2.0 (their older version of their current competition gun) that I shot PRS with for a few years. I decided to buy a whole new gun (MPA PMR) and use the chassis from the Bergara on a 22 build. Now I’m left with a Premier action and barrel and I don’t know what to do with. The barrel still has life left in it, but not a whole lot. I didn’t think I could get through another complete season with it so I decided to retire it. It’s chambered in 6.5CM and I don’t want to keep it laying around as a backup; I’d rather either sell it or repurpose it. Right now I’m leaning towards getting a prefit barrel for it and using it as a hunting gun. It would have to be something in a .308 case as Bergara doesn’t offer different bolt heads.

For prefit barrels I’ve seen options from Oregon Mountain (carbon fiber only), IBI (carbon fiber and steel), Preferd Barrels, and also Outlier from Arken.

Does anyone have any suggestions in favor of or against any of these barrels? Are there any other barrels I should be looking at? Lastly is there anything I should be aware of? This would be my first time removing and installing a barrel but the process doesn’t intimidate me.

How about carbon fiber barrels in general? I’d be wanting to make a lightweight hunting gun so I like the appeal of carbon fiber but don’t want to sacrifice if the cons are not worth it.

Im in the same space you are... have Premier action on an Oryx Chasis... it's got maybe 1k on the barrel left. I don't know about spending the money to re-barrel or just move on and use that cash for another MPA...If you are going to re-barrel for hunting I would be leaning towards the carbon fiber options to keep it a light mountain gun. Just my two cents. Mine is probably going to go to one of my daughters as a training rifle until it's shot out...

I will say I don’t regret going to the MPA at all. I haven’t shot it in a match yet but it’s been shooting great on the range. It feel so much more suited for the game than my Bergara. I knew I wanted to stay in production and since Bergara no longer their own barrels putting anything else on would have moved me into open class. For the $2550 for the MPA I was able to move the $1k chassis to the .22 build I want to shoot this year. Then I’ve still got the barreled action to either sell or reuse. Weigh that against an aftermarket barrel and a chassis for the .22 and it was a great financial decision, or at least that’s what I’m telling myself.
