Shot this Brazoria County buck a few weeks ago from ~150 yards with a Berger 140 Hunting VLD out of a 6.5x55.

It went out happy - chasing 4 does. The deer was hit mid-spine and dropped instantly. It took a minute to find the entry wound, and there were 3-4 pinprick exit wounds from shrapnel on the back side.

Once the deer was field dressed, you could see that the spine was completely severed by the bullet. The spine and all nearby ribs were completely destroyed upon impact.

The jacket of the bullet held together and was pulled from the backstrap (crap!!)....

That's some serious destruction. I shot two in the top of the shoulder/spine this year with the juggernaut target bullet and it did almost no meat damage. Maybe their target line with thicker jackets are better for game than their hunting line.
