I am looking to see if anyone has a good reloading recipe for the Berger VLD 30 Cal 185gr Hunting bullets? I'm shooting a .308 20" barrel with 1/10 twist.
I've had my best groups to date with 190gr VLD hunting with 39.5 gr RL-15 & 42-42.5 gr of Varget. 1-10" twist. Touching to .01" off the lands. I have not used the 185gr VLD, but I know the pressure would be a little higher with the 185gr since their will be more bullet in the case(shorter nose/longer BT).
I love Hodgdon's Extreme powders, however, Alliant Power Pro 2000 MR in 46.5 gr with Win brass and CCI BR2s and the 185 or 190 will put me at 1/4-1/3 MOA and 2670 fps in a 23" Broughton. There is a thread about the first rifle elk in CO of 2012 or something like that. A match bullet that kills. Who would have ever thought of that! Amazing really.
Varget or vit n540 46.6g, Lapua brass, Berger 185g molly Vld, cci br, 0.40 off lands has yielded best accuracy to date for my Blaser Lrs2 308 with 1 in 11 24in barrel.
