Guys, I own dozens of cans but only 2 rimfire. One locally made that is quiet/excellent and a SF I can’t stand. I love SF’s reg cans! I need the quietest 22 rf cam to shoot subsonic ammo only out of a rifle, bolt or semi. I read a review about a new can where they talked about a big difference between sub and super sonic and came out with baffles that are reversed depending on which ammo use. I am looking for sound reduction first and Accuracy second. Any recommendation?

I have no rimfire cans, but I’m looking to get one myself.

The only rimfire suppressor that I know of that is user configurable to have reversed baffles is the Silencerco Switchback. Suppressed Nation on Youtube had a video about it. They were able to get 108db (impressive!), but the accuracy does seem noticeably worse with reversed baffles than the contemporary configurations of the Switch back. The normal configurations of the Switchback doesn’t seem to have any accuracy detriment.

I’ve just been going in circles trying to find the right one for me. There are a lot of good examples such as the Deadair Mask, Thunderbeast Takedown 22, CGS Siren, Rugged Oculus, Energetic Armament Nyx. There are definitely other examples that I can’t seem to name off the top of my head too.

I have a Silencero Spectre 2 I like so much... I bought another so my daughter could shoot suppressed with me. Very little FRP, easy to disassemble and dunk in ultrasonic bath, and slim enough to allow me to use any iron sights.

TBAC's asspciation with the hide over the years will most likely get it the most votes here. It is a great can.
On that note, the Dead Air Mask is an excellent choice as well. But for me, there is still only one king, and that's the Element 2.
The switchback is not all that and the novelty of the reversible baffles isnt worth the cost of admission. Another honorable mention would be the CSG Hydra

I have several RF silencers.. DA Mask, SiCo WarlockII, EA NYX mod2, and a first gen Sig Sauer SRD22. With a CGS Siren and a SF Ryder22a pending, so no personal experience with those two yet.

They all preform very well, however if I were to choose, I would put the DA Mask and Sig Sauer SRD22 tied at the top of the list.

I purchased my AAC Element II a few years ago and think it's fantastic. I made a chart of all the things that were important to me: size, weight, first round pop, ease of cleaning, noise level and price(very last). This chart was VERY helpful in deciding which to get.

I have an Obsidian 9 and love the modularity of it and I do think it's a good feature on a 22lr but the Element II is so light as it is, I doubt I'd run it in a shorter config.

I have a mask and love it. Works very well and very happy with the construction and performance.

One of the biggest things to consider with a 22lr can iMHO is the ease of cleaning. They get DIRTY. The Mask is easy to take apart, and I can clean the internals in my SS pin tumbler. Precoat them with some silicone and they tumble clean quickly and easily.

The TacSol Axiom is another can that looks very good and while there's not a lot of reviews of them out there, everyone I know that has one likes it a lot and again, it's very easy to take apart and clean.

I hate to admit it but if quiet is your top reason, take a look at the Q erector. It's all aluminum so a pain to clean, but it's modular design allows you to extend it quite a bit and ends up being pretty quiet. And light. The guy I shoot with most of the time has one and it's a very nice design, you just need to know what you are getting into as far as maintenance (you can't put aluminum parts in the tumbler).

Also, if you have the opportunity to shoot different ones side by side, there can be a HUGE difference in sound reduction. Before deciding on the Element II I had the opportunity to shoot it along side another can, sorry I don't recall the mfr or model(it was a newer lesser known mfr at the time). The difference was big enough that I remember feeling bad for the owner of the other can.

For .22LR in particular, especially on a bolt action rifle, don't discount rolling your own. I'm very happy with my Quietbore. I honestly can't say it's the quietest thing available, because I have nothing to compare it to, I can say it's very quiet on my T1X. That is with standard velocity ammo. No one's can is going to make supersonic ammo quiet because the noise happens outside of the barrel.

Agreed. I don't yet have a CF rifle can. I do have a 9mm can. I cannot tell much difference in suppression between the 9mm can and my rimfire can, on my bolt .22LR. But I can tell a huge difference in size and weight. My rimfire can, while much smaller, is more importantly, less than 1/3 the weight.

TBAC 22TD forsure. I’m lucky enough to have a prison with a range downstairs so I can visit the can in jail whenever. It’s super quiet with my old 22 and very easy on the ears with my 17hmr. Highly recommend!

i only have one 22lr can, the tbac 22 takedown. I bought it because of the stellar reviews and tbac being a tier 1 company. The can itself is silly quiet. CCI minimags are quieter than a clap of your hands. CCI subsonics are quieter than the firing pin dropping on my cz455. Since I got this can, i haven't shot 22lr without it.
